Truckers Ride for the Constitution set for Friday morning
A few dozen trucks bearing the hallmarks of a planned trucker rally on the Capital Beltway have made their way into the D.C. area.
By about 8:45 a.m., Virginia State Police officials said that about 30 tractor trailers left a stop in Dumfries at about 7:30 with plans to head toward Washington. Meanwhile, in Dumfries, 15 more were spotted bearing the official Twitter hashtag of the ride - #T2SDA.
Police officials say that at about 8:50 a.m., authorities stopped four trucks that were driving side-by-side across four lanes of traffic, slowing the commute in the area to about 15 mph.

A convoy of tractor-trailers planning to circle the Capital Beltway in protest of the federal government has begun its descent on the Washington area and is causing some traffic problems for the morning commute.
The “Truckers Ride for the Constitution,” which organizer Zeeda Andrews said could attract as many as 3,000 big rigs to the nation’s capital, only had about 10 participants as of 8:30 a.m.

Dozens, not thousands, show up for DC trucker protest
A trucker protest aimed at clogging the Capital Beltway around Washington to protest government "corruption" was not shaping up to be quite the commuter nightmare organizers had threatened.
As of Friday morning, dozens of tractor-trailers were said to be on the road as part of the protest convoy.
...However, the presence was not quite the thousands of truckers that organizers had predicted. On Friday morning, just a handful of people had showed up at a key staging area....

Protesting truckers begin slowing traffic in DC
WASHINGTON, DC (RNN) - Truckers who promised to protest actions by the White House and Congress had already begun to stall traffic Friday morning on the Capital Beltway.
Tractor-trailers in all four lanes of the inner loop in Virginia slowed down to 15 miles per hour, according to the Washington Post. Police did not write tickets, instead issuing warnings to the drivers.
Other than that, it has been business as usual on roadways in the area.
Police officials in Maryland and Virginia reported there were no major incidents related to 30 trucks protesting on busy roadways in the rain.

Everyone: Here is what we have: The trucks have made it downtown DC! 48 bobtails broke away and are in the heart of the city to stage a protest. Record rains, intervention by law enforcement along with confusing reports from rouge truckers hampered turn out but they are there and locals are cheering them on . Truckers are throwing full support to vets!
What is this supposed to accomplish?
One reason, and one reason only. Annoy the shit out of people like you. :smokin:

How many trucks?
Except it doesn't annoy me. I don't live anywhere near DC. And it apparently isn't doing much, as this is the only place I'm reading about it.
I did read that the leader of the group is a flaming birther, which gives the whole movement a really nutty flavor.
