Title: Ammo purchasers in California must submit to background check, pay $50

This California proposal that will probably become law is going to be very popular in pro-gun control states.

LA Times:

Californians who want to buy ammunition would have to submit personal information and a $50 fee for a background check by the state, under a bill passed by the Senate. The state Department of Justice would determine whether buyers have a criminal record, severe mental illness or a restraining order that would disqualify them from owning guns.

Ammo shops would check the name on buyers' driver's licenses against a state list of qualified purchasers.

The goal of the bill is "to ensure that criminals and other dangerous individuals cannot purchase ammunition in the state of California," said Sen. Kevin De Leon (D-Los Angeles), author of SB 53.

The vote was 22-14, with a few Democrats joining the Republican minority in opposition.

Then a lot of Californian gun owners will start taking a lot more mini "vacations" out of state.

Geez, come to Ohio or W.Va. Walk into a Walmart, Cabela's or the like, pick up the ammo you want (assuming there's any in stock) and pay for it. They won't ask you anything.

The land of fruits and nuts is destroying itself.  Beautiful state, nice people,  horrid, goofy-ass dictatorial politicians.

I love to go to San Francisco, but I'm boycotting the place for now.

No, the goal is to ultimately eliminate any gun owners in CA. Give them up or leave. A side benefit is take some money in the meantime

As if there weren't enough reasons already to move from California!

Back in 1982, the citizens of California rejected Proposition 15 to ban handguns in California.

Since that day, the legislature has worked overtime to find a way around the will of the people. So they went after rifles, lead in ammo, magazines, drop tests, now high dollar ammo background checks.
