Arrest warrants sought for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, Hamas leader for war crimes: International Criminal Court

The International Criminal Court announced Monday that it is seeking arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar on war crime charges.

The charges are tied to the deadly Oct. 7 terror attacks on Israel and the subsequent war in Gaza, the court’s chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, said in a statement on Monday.

Warrants are also being sought for Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and two top Hamas leaders.
The charges against the Hamas terror chiefs include extermination, murder, torture, rape and taking hostages, all as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Israel is accused of “wilful killing,” “starvation of civilians as a method of warfare” and “wilfully causing great suffering.”

“My office submits that the war crimes alleged in these applications were committed in the context of an international armed conflict between Israel and Palestine, and a non-international armed conflict between Israel and Hamas (together with other Palestinian Armed Groups) running in parallel,” the prosecutor said.

Biden, Fauci and Butker each deliver starkly different speeches — and the best message gets vilified
By Social Links for Miranda Devine
Published May 19, 2024, 10:31 p.m. ET

The graduating class of 2024 has been treated to three very different commencement speeches in recent days.

Only one was not self-serving, dishonest and destructive.

You can guess which one made the left flip out.

As part of his Nationwide Pandering Tour to win back dwindling black support, Joe Biden went to the prestigious, black, all-male Morehouse College in Atlanta on Sunday and told the students that they are victims of racism and white supremacy.

He told these aspiring leaders that American democracy has failed them. “What is democracy if black men are being killed in the street … when a trail of broken promises still leaves black communities behind … if you have to be 10 times better than anyone else to get a fair shot?” he asked.

He imagined a black man who “loves his country even if it doesn’t love him back in equal measure.”

He referred to efforts by parents to remove explicit pornography from school libraries as a book “ban” to “erase history” and implied it was racist. “They don’t see you in the future of America.”

It was a rancid, depressing speech that gave nobody in the audience wisdom or nourishment to help make their way in the world.

The Disgrace and Fall of the American Elite Campus › American Greatness
Victor Davis Hanson

Anti-Israel/pro-Hamas campus protests have engulfed hundreds of college campuses. But the more coastal, blue-state, and supposedly elite the campus was, the more furious the violence that sometimes followed these demonstrations.

Even rowdier and more vicious street analogs shut down key bridges, freeways, and religious services. Protestors often defaced hallowed American monuments, national cemeteries, and iconic buildings. Visa-holders were among the worst perpetrators, adding ingratitude to their criminality.

The vast majority wore masks, not to protect from infection but to hide their identities. It is received wisdom, however, that those who wear masks do so for obvious reasons: so authorities cannot identify and punish those who commit crimes (e.g. the Klan, antifa, bank robbers, criminal gangs), or so that anonymity can help incite mob furor, given that participants feel that their vehemence increases once it cannot be traced.

More mundanely, why don’t the students simply identify themselves, insist they want their “resistance” to be known, and then hope their arrests will be proof of their courage to galvanize like-minded people to join them?

Trump suggests he could be a 3-term president if he wins election
by Lauren Sforza - 05/19/24 4:50 PM ET

Former President Trump suggested Saturday that he could be considered a three-term president if he clinches a win next November.

Speaking to the National Rifle Association (NRA) on Saturday, Trump questioned whether he would be a two- or three-term president if he secures a win in the 2024 presidential election.

“You know, FDR 16 years, almost 16 years, he was four-term. I don’t know, are we going to be considered three term or two term?” he asked the crowd during the event Saturday.

“Are we three term or two term if we win?” he added.

Someone could be heard shouting “three” as he continued to speak.

Trump has previously said he would not pursue a third term in the White House if he wins November’s election. In an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press” last year, he said he would not pursue a third term in office if elected again.

Presidents are restricted to just two terms of office under the 22nd Amendment. Former President Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected to four terms in office before the amendment was enacted but died early on during his fourth one.

Attorney General Ken Paxton Secures Temporary Restraining Order Against Biden Administration, Stopping Unlawful ATF Rule from Taking Effect

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has secured a temporary restraining order from a federal judge that prevents an unlawful rule promulgated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (“ATF”) from taking effect while the case is litigated.

On May 1, Attorney General Paxton led a coalition suing the ATF to prevent a new regulatory restriction that unlawfully attempted to abridge Americans’ constitutional right to privately buy and sell firearms. The Final Rule was arbitrary and capricious and flagrantly violated the Second Amendment. Despite Congress having recognized the legality of private firearms sales by non-dealers, the Biden Administration issued a new regulation that would subject hundreds of thousands of law-abiding gun owners to presumptions of criminal guilt for engaging in constitutionally protected activities.

A federal district court has halted the implementation of the ATF rule until June 2, 2024, so that hearings may be held.

“I am relieved that we were able to secure a restraining order that will prevent this illegal rule from taking effect,” said Attorney General Paxton. “The Biden Administration cannot unilaterally overturn Americans’ constitutional rights and nullify the Second Amendment.”

The restraining order explained that Texas and the co-plaintiffs, “understandably fear that these presumptions will trigger civil or criminal penalties for conduct deemed lawful just yesterday. Nevertheless, ATF avers that its ‘knowledge of existing case law’ and ‘subject-matter expertise’ will prevent misuse or abuse of the presumption.… in other words, ‘just trust us.’ … For the forgoing reasons, Plaintiffs are substantially likely to succeed on the merits.”
