PRINCETON (CBSDFW.COM) – An off-duty McKinney firefighter and one other person were attacked at the Walmart in Princeton, allegedly by an employee who soon became a former employee.

Oswald was reported to be doing contract work for Walmart at the time of the incident.  Both victims are out of surgery and are expected to make a full recovery.

The Walmart employee, Nicolas Martinez, 20, allegedly slit the firefighter’s throat from behind with about 200-300 shoppers inside the busy store....

  An off-duty McKinney Fire Chief was injured yesterday at an aggravated assault at Walmart in Princeton.

Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 Princeton PD responded to an aggravated assault at Walmart, located at 701 W. Princeton Drive. Two victims were transported via air ambulance to Medical Center of Plano for serious stab wounds.

According to information released by the police department, Walmart employee Nicolas Martinez became disgruntled, came up behind McKinney FD Battalion Chief George Cook and cut him across the throat. The firefighter had surgery overnight and is expected to recover completely. He was not in uniform at the time of the attack.

The other victim was Fredrick Oswald, an independent contractor for Walmart. He is also expected to recover fully.  ...
