Idaho Woman Says She Crashed Because She Saw a Sasquatch

March 25, 2017 02:02 PM

A northern Idaho woman told police she crashed into a deer because she was distracted by a sasquatch in her rearview mirror.

The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports that the 50-year-old Tensed woman was driving south on U.S. Highway 95 on Wednesday when she struck a deer near Potlatch.

The woman told Benewah County Sheriff's officials that she saw a sasquatch chasing a deer on the side of the road while driving. She says she checked one of her mirrors to get a second look at the beast and when she looked up, the deer ran in front of her.

Sheriff's officials marked the incident as a vehicle versus deer collision but did not report any evidence of Bigfoot.

Well Sorta... I am in NW Montana... Kalispell, to be precise... Spittin' distance, to be sure (a few hours), considering Coeur d'Alene to be the western doorway to 'home'...

But if she was from CdA and environs, there is an 80% chance she was single and a stone fox. Dunno why, but N.Idaho has it better that way. Otherwise, the scenery is very comparable to home.

And the only time I am mistaken for a Sasquatch is when folks are looking me right in the eye. :) There may be screaming and carrying on before that... usually mistakenly panicking about how a griz wandered down into town

Potlatch is, of course, one of the stops on the infamous "Boville Run". Sounds like she started her run by the southern route through Troy. Going that route and having made it past Harvard and Princeton is a real testament to her fortitude. She may have made it clear to Viola. Which would make sense given this song and dance.

Honest, officer. The vodka bottle was empty when I got in the car.

To further fill your heads with useless trivia, the Bovill Run was a drinking challenge at the University of Idaho in Moscow. Starting in Moscow and heading for Troy to Bovill, back around to Potlatch down to Moscow.

Viola is about at the highway sign 95. Harvard to the left/east of Princeton at 6.  On your birthday the drinking establishments would give you a free drink. The official number of stops on the run was 23.

The wife and I were in Kalispell about ten years ago. We spent three nights there. Beautiful area. Where is the best place to eat, or what are some good restaurants?

Well, I ain't much for going out, and it depends upon what you would rate as good food... The $50 dollar a plate joints ain't my bag. They're here, but I don't go. I like redneck stuff... Country diners... good burgers...

Best all around I would say is Sykes diner uptown... My favorite place to be. It's a local landmark that was where the old folks went to congregate around 10 cent bottomless coffees out in the diner behind the store. When Old Man Sykes died, it quickly fell into a spiral and closed down... for years.

But it was bought by the Thomson family, whose intent to make it a bit more of an upscale version has truly been realized. The coffee costs a bit more, but the food s great with a Country Kitchen/ Country diner atmosphere. You'll spend a touch more than you'd like to, but you'll leave full of good food. Great Christian family joint, easy going, and affordable.

Cislo's Diner down in Evergreen ain't too shabby either... Bojangles on the west side, if you can catch them open. Moose's Saloon uptown, of course, is famous for their pizza, as is Charlie's Beer Depot and Casino, and Scotty's Bar probably makes the best burgers hereabout. Ribs would be Famous Dave's if you like Texas and KC, The Back Room in Columbia Falls for the more vinegar based Carolina style... But the Desoto Grill uptown is tops.

Y'all get up this way, be sure to give a holler. If family ain't in town, I'd be happy to haul you around. I live simple, but there's always sweet tea in the fridge, and you're welcome.
