Harry Reid may be retiring, but the questions about him never stop coming from Rush Limbaugh.

On his Friday program, Limbaugh openly questioned the story that the Nevada Senator was injured in New Years Day accident on his exercise machine. Reid has incurred vision problems and visual bruising in the aftermath, being forced to wear sunglasses on the Senate floor.

“Does anybody believe that Harry Reid really had an accident with his exercise machine?” Limbaugh asked after touching on Reid’s announcement. “Does anybody really believe that’s why Harry Reid is still bruised and is still wearing dark glasses, what, months after this accident with his exercise machine?”

“I don’t believe for a minute that whatever happened to Harry Reid has anything to do with an exercise machine unless somebody repeatedly threw him into it,” Limbaugh said mocking Reid. “Harry Reid looks like and is acting like — and now with this announcement, behaving like — somebody who may have been beaten up.”

“Nobody… I’ve never seen anybody have an accident with exercise machine that ends up suffering symptoms much like Harry Reid’s for as long as Harry Reid has,” Limbaugh said. “Three months, and you still have signs of injury for accident running into your exercise machine? Nah-nah-nah-nah-nah.”

Rush opens the can of worms.  This should pretty much assure that he gets lots of press over the weekend.  MSM reporters have been reporting Reid's "accident" with a bit of skepticism in the delivery, but until now I have not heard anyone in the media question the veracity of the story.

Part of me wants to agree with Rush and it is funny to think that some of the Casino mafio Reid plays with decided to crack down on him.....

.....but.....

...old people have accidents and when they do it usually is worse and takes far longer to heal than someone younger.

My wife's grandmother (who was close to Reid's age) slipped on some ice the night before our wedding (18 years ago), and cracked her hip bone. That led her on a fast decline that she never could heal from and passed away a year later. She just couldn't heal and it was hard on her as she tried to recover.

One other thing that stuck me is the thought that if someone or some group could physically assault a 30 year senior Senator with no repercussion, that is somewhat more disturbing than even some of the worst stuff Reid did. IF he was attacked as implied, who did it, on whose orders, and for what reason? That is a big risk attacking a high profile Senator in such a way that would attract cameras.

No matter what you think of Reid, the implications are pretty serious.

I have pondered your point as well. If he indeed was "roughed up", it was by someone who knew what they were doing and imposing enough to keep a U.S. Senator quiet and making up cover stories. That is a tall order and certainly the FBI would be curious enough to at least have a look. Now, operatives for Obama... hmmm... Could Harry have strayed?

It is possible that there is an investigation going on and that Reid is continuing this cover story for his own safety, and to keep the perpetrators off track.
