Title: Walberg seeks to prohibit Biden from shutting Line 5 without Congress' OK
Post by: Elderberry on December 09, 2021, 03:15:47 am
The Detroit News by Melissa Nann Burke 12/8/2021

Republican U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg has introduced a bill in Congress to block President Joe Biden from "punitively" shutting down Line 5 or any other oil or natural gas pipeline without congressional approval.

The legislation says the president may not revoke a presidential or other permit for construction or operation of a pipeline or electric transmission facility unless authorized by Congress.

The bill is unlikely to be taken up in the Democrat-led House this year, but it underscores the alarm expressed by Walberg and other Republican lawmakers about the possibility of closing the segment of the Line 5 pipeline running under the Straits of Mackinac, warning it could further increase energy costs.

Line 5, owned and operated by Enbridge Inc., supplies 65% of propane demand in the Upper Peninsula, and 55% of Michigan's propane needs statewide.

“Across this country, hardworking families are facing skyrocketing heating costs this winter, and further constraining American energy will only make the crisis worse,”  Walberg said in a statement.

Betcha Queen Nancy doesn't have a problem with curtailing Presidential power when it comes to Biden shutting down pipelines and driving up the cost of  oil, gasoline, natural gas and heating oil to the lowly proletariat.

Biden Halts Federal Aid to New Fossil Fuel Projects Overseas.
Guys at this point we really have to start looking at the angle that he is being blackmailed.
No other explanation for handing all of Europe’s energy needs to Russia going into winter.

Policy blocks new finance and diplomatic support for ventures
Carbon-intensive projects could get backing for security needs

The Biden administration has ordered an immediate halt to new federal support for coal plants and other carbon-intensive projects overseas, a major policy shift designed to fight climate change and accelerate renewable energy worldwide.

The wide-ranging directive for the first time bars U.S. government backing for future ventures, potentially affecting billions of dollars in annual funding as well as diplomatic and technical assistance. The move was detailed in a cable sent late last week to U.S. embassies and obtained by Bloomberg News. ... The world's utilization of fossil fuels, whether coal, oil or natural gas, caused the greatest rise in the industrial age and standard of living over the past two hundred years, lifting billions out of poverty as well as providing warmth and fuel.

Without either praising or condemning the subsidizing of foreign countries, to state that only funds for fossil fuels will be banned and not, say for abortion, is tantamount to saying that the third world needs to remain in the third world.  This is plantation-style behavior the Dems are famous for.

Also, since most of the third world are non-whites, where is the condemnation from the media on the vicious racism being displayed by Biden?
