Jury awards E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million from Trump for 2019 defamatory statements
From CNN’s Lauren del Valle and Kara Scannell
Former President Donald Trump should pay $83.3 million to writer E. Jean Carroll for public statements he made in 2019 disparaging Carroll and denying her rape allegations, a Manhattan federal jury determined Friday.
The jury found Trump should pay Carroll compensatory damages of $18.3 million — $11 million to fund a reputational repair campaign and $7.3 million for the emotional harm caused by Trump’s 2019 public statements.
Trump should also pay $65 million in punitive damages for acting maliciously in making the statements about Carroll, the jury found.
The total is more than eight times what Carroll asked for in her initial lawsuit.

The Orange boob has reportedly spent over 57 million of other peoples money on his various defenses. Pretty soon he'll have to start a "Go Fund Me' page.
-
E. Jean Carroll loved Trump until he decided to run for office, all his friends turned their backs on him, and she learned that she could make a lot of money by lying about him and then suing him for defamation after he denied those lies and called her a liar.

This award, combined with the NY fraud case will approach half a billion dollars. The party does NOT have money to waste on Trump’s courtroom antics, and I suspect he will eventually lose every damned one of the criminal trials, because is a total moron of a defendant.

Unbelievable amount, but not able to keep his pie hole shut has been his curse. And he still can't learn from it.

I think that Trump knows he’s probably not gonna win this election so he’s deciding to entertain his base instead

I was thinking, with this whole Trump fiasco, maybe just maybe we should reexamine how useful Talk Radio is nowadays. I mean they are the ones who want Trump. They are the ones who pushed and still pushing Trump.
I'm talking about Beck, Levin, Hannity, Bongino, and others...
Personally I think it is time to kick them out.

That does seem to be an excessive amount stemming from an accusation but none of us know is true or not
However, Trump has over 25 accusations of some form of sexual impropriety over the last few decades. No one can tell for sure what really happened between Trump and these women, but are all these women lying and Trump is the gentleman?

But this may be a play.
Inept lawyering, allowing a ridiculous judgement, and stupendously absurd fine...
Ripe ground on appeal. Step away from the regimented liberal leaning local jurisdiction, and his appeal becomes a slam-dunk.
They gave him both barrels and he let em. It's so obviously unfair and absurd.
Or it is what it is, and he is that inept.

Ladies and Gentlemen. I give you, E Jean Carrol. The mentally deranged sex addict who talks about her “rape fantasies”, paints the trees and rocks in her yard blue, and has a cat named Vagina, and a dog named Tits. You can’t make this up. This is Trumps accuser.
She's also accused a dozen or so other men of having raped her. Talk about fantasies!

15 Facts About E. Jean Carroll’s Allegations Against Trump the Media Don’t Want You to Know
E. Jean Carroll’s second defamation lawsuit closed on Friday as a New York jury determined that former President Donald Trump owes her $83.3 million for defaming her in 2019. However, what has continually fallen under the radar is the fact that there are serious concerns with the woman’s entire story. Yet, she was awarded tens of millions of dollars.

I am appalled at the justice system and the elite predator class like Reid Hoffman’s hold over it. Americans better know this is gross injustice.
Meanwhile, I can’t even get an investigation into Joe Biden who raped me when I was his staffer in 1993.

Trump’s ineptitude is what led to a spectacularly poor result. He and his team could not have played this worse if they tried. Furthermore, it looks like the same clueless attorneys will handle the appeal in the 2nd circuit, which is primarily democrat. If he continues to yap, he could face yet another lawsuit by the same plaintiff.

It depends who you’re dealing with. Trump disciples only see it as validation of their victimhood status: woe is us, everthang is upside down. A few of the libs actually believe this crazy woman. The rest of us chalk it up to rank incompetence, blowing a winnable case by missing deadlines, misunderstanding basic court procedures, and zero client discipline. The next nine months will be more of the same.

Get plenty of press playing against him...

and win.

The E. Jean Carroll case against Trump shows our morally corrupt legal system
By Andrea Widburg
The headline is that a jury awarded E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million in her defamation claim against Donald Trump. What’s behind the headline is infinitely more important, for it shows how America’s leftist-run judicial system works.
I should explain that I come with a strong bias to this matter. I worked as a litigator for almost thirty years in the San Francisco Bay Area. That experience left me with an abiding hatred for leftist judges.
They routinely showed themselves to be disinterested in law and facts. Instead, they used their powerful positions to dispense “justice”—only their idea of “justice” was whatever comported with leftist ideology. That meant that landlords lost, banks lost, insurance companies lost, and anyone else whom the judges didn’t like lost—and they lost for dishonest reasons. I never minded losing a case I knew was weak; I resented losing a good case, and I became conservative for that reason.

Trump-Carroll Judge Was ‘Mentor’ to E. Jean’s Lawyer, Conflict of Interest Appeal Expected.
Donald Trump’s legal team is set to use a previously undisclosed “conflict of interest” as grounds for appealing a recent verdict that orders the former president to pay advice columnist E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million. Trump attorney Alina Habba told the New York Post she was previously unaware that Manhattan federal Judge Lewis Kaplan, who presided over the case, worked with Roberta Kaplan, Carroll’s attorney, at the Paul Weiss Rifkin, Wharton & Garrison law firm in the early 1990s. Habba says neither the judge nor Roberta Kaplan revealed this professional history. “It was never disclosed.
It’s insane and so incestuous,” Habba said, asserting the non-disclosure counts as an ethics violation. Early in her career, Roberta worked as an associate at the firm during the same period as Judge Kaplan, who was a partner until his 1994 appointment to the federal bench by then-President Bill Clinton.
A representative for Roberta Kaplan, Zak Sawyer, said no conflict of interest exists because Roberta never worked directly for Kaplan, a defense undermined by an unnamed ex-partner at the firm, who told the Post, “Lew [Lewis Kaplan] was like her mentor.”

So, what if it wasn't revealed? He should have recused himself to begin with. Can't Trump sue the judge for malpractice; about $82 million would be a good number?

Don't expect MSNBC hag to ask brown Hillary Clinton why she's being funded by the same guy bankrolling a more retarded version of Blasey-Ford. Or why Carroll has the same lawyer as Ashley Biden. Or why the judge was Carroll's lawyer's "mentor"when they worked at the same law firm

@JohnLeFevre
I thought everyone knew the E. Jean Carroll vs Trump case was bogus, until I heard my mother's (late 60s Republican) uninformed take on the verdict after watching ABC Nightly News.
It's hard to find on Google, so here's what you need to know about E. Jean Carroll, most of which was deemed "inadmissible" by the judge:
- She couldn't recall the date, month, season, or year the incident happened
- She never told anyone about it, despite being publicly obsessed with her own sexuality
- The dress she claims to have been wearing didn't exist at the time
- Her description of the dressing room at Bergdorf Goodman was inaccurate, making her sequence of events impossible
- Her lawsuit was bankrolled by Jeffrey Epstein pal and Democrat (and Nikki Haley) mega-donor Reid Hoffman
- Democrats created a law (The Adult Survivors Act in 2022) to enable her lawsuit to proceed
- Her accusation is the exact plotline of an episode of Law & Order (one of her "favorite shows")
- Trump's Apprentice was also one of her favorite shows
- She has a history of falsely accusing men of r*pe, including Les Moonves
- She told Anderson Cooper, "most people think of r*pe as being sexy. Think of the fantasies."
- She made a career promoting promiscuity, even writing glowingly of sexual assault and naming her cat Vagina

I had no clue she was such a nut case.
She is a nutcase. And she does have a lot of credibility issues.
The problem Trump has is that he has over 25 different women who have accused him of being sexually inappropriate or assaults and he’s also on tape boasting about how he can grab women by their privates. That probably doesn’t help his credibility, either.
But the judgement seems a little bit much for something that we don’t even know if it really happened or not
-
But the settlement seems a little bit much for something that we don’t even know if it really happened or not
Are we talking about a "settlement," or a judgment against Trump from a biased judge? I don't believe Trump agree to pay this lunatic a penny.

Sexual assault victims don’t usually respond like this.
This just proves to everyone (again) that this wasn’t a serious case.
It was a scam from the start and it was damaging to real victims of rąpe who will now be less believed.
Democrats are proving how they’ll fake anything in order to slander someone.
It’s backfiring.

E. Jean Carroll MIGHT Want to Hold Off Spending Her Winnings Based on BOMBSHELL From Trump's Defense Team

Full disclosure, we typically take bombshells like this with a grain of salt because this is the sort of story that definitely will get lots of clicks and taps and often times, if something sounds like it's too good to be true it probably is.

Trump says he’s interviewing new lawyers for Carroll case appeal, attacks judge
by Ella Lee - 01/31/24 10:29 AM ET
Former President Trump suggested late Tuesday night he may be shopping for new lawyers to represent him in an imminent appeal of the damages verdict in the case brought against him by writer E. Jean Carroll.
A New York City jury last week ordered Trump to pay Carroll $83.3 million for defaming her in 2019, when he denied the longtime advice columnist’s accusation that he sexually assaulted her decades earlier.
Trump said Tuesday he is “in the process” of interviewing several law firms to represent him in his appeal.
“Any lawyer who takes a TRUMP CASE is either ‘CRAZY,’ or a TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOT,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I will make my decision soon!”
The former president was represented in the initial trial by attorney Alina Habba, a New Jersey-based lawyer who also represented Trump and his company during his New York civil fraud trial that ended earlier this month.
It’s not uncommon to seek different representation when handling an appeal, and the post doesn’t make clear that Habba was removed from the case or Trump’s broader legal team. The Hill requested comment from representatives for Habba and Trump.

More on Judge Kaplan
Sex abuse lawsuit against Prince Andrew has been formally dismissed by a judge
MARCH 8, 2022 | 9:19 PM ET
NEW YORK — A U.S. judge dismissed the sex abuse lawsuit against Britain's Prince Andrew on Tuesday, three weeks after lawyers for the American woman who filed it reached a deal calling for the prince to make a substantial donation to his accuser's charity and declare he never meant to malign her character.
U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan signed court papers dismissing the August lawsuit after lawyers on both sides asked him to do so earlier in the day. The judge had given them until March 17 to complete the deal or he would set a trial date. The lawsuit cannot be refiled. . .
