Very short article, Drudge gave this as a red sub headline. I don't care for how this comes out, intentional or not, I can't judge.

Not good. One day...he already has a frickin' "Macaca Moment".

LOL. What a load of shit.

Well that's going to take McCain off of the news.

Yeah and most voters are going to laugh at this overreach.

Yeah and most voters are going to laugh at this overreach.
Yeah most will..DeSantis is a seasoned politician..this is a rookie mistake. I just hope he doesn't go on an apology tour to all the networks...that just makes it worse.
-
Never give your opponent ammunition.

Run and run and run. Maybe his own minority credentials will help.
-
DeSantis seems to be a man of integrity. It's hard to see him having intentional malicious aims here. Maybe he will just move on.
-

Exactly, now he just needs to stand by it and not apologize, and just say, "You know I didn't mean anything by that other than using a well-known expression that has absolutely no racial connotations". None of this lame, "I'm sorry if anyone was offended" crap.

A rookie mistake? Are we now supposed to use the "M" word when talking about a certain zoo animal?
This is absurd.

......and here we go
Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Terrie Rizzo slammed DeSantis after the interview.
"It's disgusting that Ron DeSantis is launching his general election campaign with racist dog whistles," Rizzo said in a statement.
Geoff Burgan, Gillum's campaign spokesman, told the Tallahassee Democrat that his campaign was letting Rizzo respond to DeSantis's comments.
"DeSantis's comments speak for themselves," he said.
The Florida Republican's remarks came shortly after Gillum pulled off a stunning win in Florida's Democratic gubernatorial primary on Tuesday night.

LOL. Stupid mistakes, not using regular words cost people elections. This will be a dead issue by the end of the week, if it even gets that far.

Hope your right..maybe the McCain funeral will knock it off the front pages.
-
Whats really pathetic is this is the kind of mickey mouse sh*t that offers the left their best chance at regaining power.
Heaven forbid they try to win on issues.
-
I think there was some deal with Santorum back in 2012 and his campaign would not dignify the questions with an answer. Maybe that would be the correct tact on this. "We aren't even going to dignify that with an answer, it's absurd."
Rick's case may have been less serious, it was where he gave a speech and they pondered if was going to say something but he caught himself before he said it. I like Santorum, so I don't want to get too much into what was probably ridiculous to bring up in the first place.

To the liberal press everything is an "African American" in the woodpile.
-
It is a figure of speech: as in "Don't throw a monkey wrench in the works."
Instead of backing down, he should use it to show how the dems and their media partners, try to make a false accusation.
What is "disantis?" Italian, Cuban, Spanish, Portugese?" What?
-
Well of course the press would think "black people" anytime a monkey is brought into the discussion.

Fox News denounces DeSantis's 'monkey' remark on Dem rival
By Aris Folley - 08/29/18 12:55 PM EDT
excerpt
Fox News host Sandra Smith said Wednesday that the network did not condone Rep. Ron DeSantis's (R) language when he warned voters not to "monkey this up" by voting for his Democratic gubernatorial opponent Andrew Gillum.
DeSantis's remark about Gillum, who would be Florida's first black governor if elected, prompted quick backlash, with the state Democratic Party chair saying he was "launching his general election campaign with racist dog whistles."
“A little while ago, we had Ron DeSantis, the Republican nominee for governor in Florida on for an interview to discuss the Florida election,†Smith said on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom†before reading a statement from DeSantis's campaign clarifying his earlier remarks.
"We do not condone this language and wanted to make our viewers aware that he has since clarified his statement," she added.

I'm starting to agree with Trump: the media should not be shielded from lawsuits. These "news" organizations have fabricated a racial slur and placed it in headlines. Their actions are entirely malicious and defamatory.

SHEP: Is there anything you want to say about the reference to "monkeying" around with Gillum?
DeSANTIS: Please show me your video of the event where I say that? Oh? You don't have one?? Well I've got THIS one. The one your production room won't air. Eff you. I will see you in court.

The saying "throw a monkey wrench into the works," has no, zero, zip racial connotation.
It comes from a British sayin, about throwing a "Spanner" into the works.
a "spanner" is British for wrench.
"Monkey it up,," or "monkey up the works," have no racial connotation.
The candidate ought to simply say this.

Did DeSantis also say Gillum was articulate? No kidding here, "articulate" also has a history......really, I did not know this. Maybe a long time ago with Biden calling Obama that, I might have heard a little but websearch "articulate" and "racist" and you do get results. It might be more of a nuisance than "racist".
On Being Called Articulate

Of the alphabetical sequence of adjectives famously applied to Barack Obama by Joseph Biden, bright and clean were awkward enough, but the one that got under my skin was articulate.
Educated black people such as myself are often called "articulate," and it's irritating. Contrary to popular misconception, it isn't racist, but it's still a nuisance.
There has been a flurry of commentary on Mr. Biden's use of the word in the press and blogosphere to the effect that when a white person calls a black one articulate, he means "for a black person." That is, presumably, white people think all black people speak street-corner "Ebonics," blind to the legions of middle-class and affluent blacks around them speaking Standard English. This blindness is, we are to assume, because of racism.
But the linguistic facts here tell a different story. While only some black people dwell in Ebonics 24/7, the vast majority flows in and out of Black English as various social contexts demand.

Gillum wants a 40% corporate tax rate and probably a lot of other stuff, that will get him creamed in the elections I think. There would be no reason to resort to doing other things.

I've never heard the term 'monkey this up'. So I looked it up on the internet and could not find an example of anyone else saying, 'don't monkey this up'. It seems to be something that DeSantis made up himself. I have never heard it before, and I can't find any example of it anywhere.
This had to be some kind of Freudian thing. Why would anyone in their right mind say something so stupid about a Black opponent. It makes no sense at all.

Well I don't know where you are from but when I was growing up, "don't monkey it up" was what you said in polite company rather than "don't F(u)ck it up". So based on his usage I'd say that is what he meant, but was being polite.
-
'Don't Monkey it up' is something your Granpaw told you because Grandmaw would slap the $hit out of him if he said 'Don't Screw it up, Son'.
In my Southern upbringing anyway.
Must confess, I always liked it when Granmaw slapped the $hit out of Granpaw.

OK. I am happy to defer to the experts. I thought I knew most of the Andy Griffith down home sayings but I must have missed this one. Thanks for clarifying it for me. I was genuinely confused by this.
-
"Don't muck it up" and... I thought to avoid dropping an "f" bomb, he might have said it the way he did. Who knows? As I said earlier, he seems to be a man of integrity, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

Not good. One day...he already has a frickin' "Macaca Moment".

Agreed,
DeSantis, a white conservative, wins decisively while
his opponent, a black socialist wins marginally.
Later DeSantis tells his voters," now don't monkey it up".
Could De Santis be more asinine than in this remark?????
The msm will now shove this brainless remark up his ass
from now till election day.
Of course the R fan club types will remain oblivious, cuz
anything an R sez must be gospel. Too stupid for words.

Hey, look! ODB is actually a “full back.â€
After Giants superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. inked a $95 million contract extension this week, making him the highest-paid wideout in history, he popped off his shirt to show off a massive, back-spanning tattoo.
The tableau — a nod to “Planet of the Apes†— depicts simian figures rising up from his waist amid an urban backdrop that includes a crumbling Chrysler Building on his right shoulder blade and Lady Liberty’s disembodied head below. ... @skeeter @mystery-ak @ Everyone.....
If anyone heard Glenn Beck this morning, it seems they have an example of DeSantis using this very same slogan a few months ago.... if that is so, that really changes the whole complexion. The Beck show didn't give the exact specifics so maybe it was just using it in general.
This story has basically gone belly up though, yesterday's news, hardly a peep today, old news. Silly story but I would like to see more reference to where it was used prior.
I could find nothing to confirm what I heard this morning, probably because this story has really faded.
