WASHINGTON – Today, the NAACP Board of Directors issued a formal travel advisory for the state of Florida. The travel advisory comes in direct response to Governor Ron DeSantis' aggressive attempts to erase Black history and to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in Florida schools.
The formal travel notice states, "Florida is openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals. Before traveling to Florida, please understand that the state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by African Americans and other communities of color."

NAACP issues a travel advisory against visiting Florida because of DeSantis.
Hopefully the Urban Beach Weekend participants follow this advice so there will be no robbing, raping, shooting, and killing on South Beach like years past.

Interesting. Florida has more black-owned businesses in absolute numbers, not just relative to population.

The Florida GOP has offered to pay moving expenses so the leader of the Florida NAALCP can move out of the state he claims to fear. :silly: :tongue2:

The Republican Party of Florida was so worried for the safety of NAACP Chairman Leon Russel that it offered to pay his moving expenses to some other, safer state.
He lives in Tampa and has for decades.

Some people seem to think that the offer was a stunt, or racist. Yet another example of the GOP’s hostility to black people. Driving a man out of the state!
Yeah, right. Clearly, he doesn’t think the state is so bad, and neither do a bunch of other NAACP Board members who visited the state over the past couple of years–most notably during the COVID pandemic. They could enjoy themselves in, what one board member called, the “great state of Florida.
