Debt ceiling deadline raises eyebrows over Biden's negotiation strategy
by Naomi Lim, White House Reporter |

The White House and congressional Republican aides will huddle over the weekend to discuss the debt ceiling and a potential spending compromise as the country contends with the prospect of a default.
But with Republicans no longer doubting Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen's June 1 X Date projection and President Joe Biden scheduled to travel abroad next Wednesday for a week, the two sides have an increasingly narrow window of time to avoid economic disaster.
Biden's "delay tactics," declining to meet with Republicans over the debt ceiling without a budget counteroffer, "have put our country directly in harm's way," according to Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD), chairman of the Republican Main Street Caucus.
"Republicans worked diligently to pass a plan that addresses our spending crisis and the debt limit," Johnson told the Washington Examiner. "The president needs to take our plan seriously."

@mystery-ak
According to the fiscal loons here,this must be Trump's fault because NONE of the politicians THEY support would ever be involved in anything like this,huh?

The House Republicans have come up with a plan and Brandon isn't cognitive enough to negotiate or agree to it. It is already speculated that he will veto it. The meeting that was supposed to happen Friday has been postponed.
He has stated in essence that the U.S. has ever defaulted on it's debt and never will ... so will he use the 14th amendment as rumored??

@sneakypete no one has put any blame on Trump. Brandon IS responsible for the current deficit going out of control.
The Republicans have come up with a plan. The DEMS are accusing them of creating an economic disaster and throwing granny over the cliff. It's a bunch of crappola.

@libertybele
There is something new about this?
As far as I know,this has been happening ever since FDR was in office. Budgetting is probably why the Constitutional Amendment was enacted to keep any future Presidents from serving more than 2 terms.

This post doesn’t make any sense. Us “fiscal loons” hold everybody accountable that’s been responsible for this unsustainable debt and deficit over the years. I don’t care if it’s Obama, Pelosi, Trump, Biden, McConnell, Schumer. They all signed on to these unsustainable spending bills. You could fit the number of Congress members who at least attempted to fight them in a phone booth and still have elbow room. People like Rand Paul, and probably Ted Cruz are part of the two that come to mind.
The differences you’re the only one here, along with a possible one or two more, that blame everybody else BUT Trump
This has been explained to you over and over again so many times I don’t know why I’m bothering to respond. Nobody here said that the debt and deficit were all Donald Trump’s fault but he did sign onto them.
But the reason why people here are bringing up Trump and the debt and the deficits under his watch is because he’s running for president again. And, he’s pushing for a lot of ambitious spending in a country that just can’t afford it anymore.
Having a president that’s rude seems to be your only requirement. Well, if you want that I’ll go to a formal restaurant and fart all day if that’s all it takes to get your vote. But as far as get anything really constructive done, probably would be a waste of my time. Do you think the left and the bureaucrats are just going to submit to his will because he’s rude?

Biden Admin won't agree to spending cuts.
Has anyone considerd of raising the debt ceiling with the stipulation that when ervicing the Debt exceeds a % of Annual Budget or a % of GDP there are automatic cuts in discretionary spending for Executive agencies like the EPA, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Dept of Education, the Dept of Transportation, or other useless agencies, bureaus, or departments?
Or automatic auction of Federal lands or automatic approvals for forestry, fishing, energy, sale of Fort Knox gold, and mining projects that pay royalties to the Federal Government?

Spotted Owls gotta die when the Federal Government can't control its spending and debt servicing.
