Virginia legislators craft bills to try to get Washington Football Team to build its next stadium in state

The Washington Football Team already trains in Virginia. Could the franchise play its home games there later this decade, too?

That’s the question some Virginia legislators hope to see answered “yes” in a few years. Top members of the state House and Senate on Friday said they will file legislation sought by the WFT to build a stadium and large commercial complex in Northern Virginia.

The state’s new governor, Republican Glenn Youngkin, supported the idea Monday in his first speech to the General Assembly. As reported by The Washington Post, the bills would establish a football stadium authority that could oversee the financing and construction of a stadium that would anchor a retail, entertainment and residential development.  .  .  .
