Absolutely historic' snowstorms are forecast for this weekend

Parts of Colorado and Wyoming could see more than 30 inches of snow.

    The major storm system will bring heavy snow to Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins, Colorado, as well as Cheyenne, Wyo., and parts of western Nebraska.
    “The snowfall totals currently forecast are absolutely historic,” the National Weather Service in Cheyenne said Thursday morning.
    Millions of people in the area are under winter storm watches that are likely to turn into winter storm or blizzard warnings as the storm advances Friday.

A massive winter storm is expected to strike the central Rockies and High Plains this weekend, potentially bringing multiple feet of snow that could halt travel and cause power outages in the regions, according to the National Weather Service.

The major storm system will bring heavy snow to Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins, Colorado, as well as Cheyenne, Wyo., and parts of western Nebraska. Denver could see anywhere from 18 to 24 inches, Boulder 24 to 30 inches and Cheyenne could record up to 30 inches or more.

I see The Hill has taken its penchant for histrionics and is now applying it to the weather. (Though in fairness, AgDay, my go-to morning TV news, also led off with that story, but with a decent sized chunk of farmland in the storm's path, they have a reason.)

Snowstorms are not particularly uncommon in March, especially in the Rocky Mountains.

Might be a bit better than a 1-3 feet high wall of lava flooding down the mountain toward one's home, though.
