Has anyone actually obtained a health policy via Healthcare.gov? Not just "signed up," or "enrolled," but bought & paid for?

Good question, Mr. Hume!

@brithume I think @charlescwcooke asked about this the other day and answer was "not through the website." But maybe he'll chime in.—

@brithume Just the mere fact that a national journalist has to ask that question to a country of 300 million people speaks volumes.—

Bingo.

This Twitter user answered with devastating effect.

@brithume Can't pay for it Brit. That part of the website hasn't been built—

Bam. And Mr. Hume’s response?

Exactly. “@AParra210: @brithume Can't pay for it Brit. That part of the website hasn't been built”—

We see what you did there, Mr. Hume. Nailing? Achieved.

As for the Twitter user with the truth-bomb response, he’s having a good day:

Ha! An honor indeed.

Not just the "bought and paid for" question. Has anyone who believes he's signed up for Obamacare actually had an appointment with a doctor yet? Has anyone who believes he's signed up for Obamacare shown up at the emergency room and tried to get medical treatment?

Can't do that until Jan. 1st at the earliest.

Ah, well this should be interesting!

In a conversation with my Socialist lady friend ( they stop being "girlfriends" when your in your late 60's ), she was speaking about how she hated her new job compared to her old one.

I asked her what her net gain was and she quickly said, "They provide me with healthcare coverage....and they pay 50%!!"

I asked her what she's going to do when she finds out January 1st, that her policy is no longer available at the former price.

She gave me a very long blank stare wondering what I was talking about......

Not yet, because none of these policies take effect until January 1st.  Then many people will be discovering that they have "insurance" but no medical care because no doctor or hospital will accept it.

And another enormous turd in the punchbowl is one estimate that says as many as 30% of all enrollees in the first 2 months have flawed applications that are so scrambled as to be completely useless, and many of them won't find that out until they try to use the coverage after the 1st of the year, only to find out they have nothing whatsoever.

There apparently is no plan "B" either.  To even plan for an alternative is seen by the Administration as counter productive, and any admission of failure, including planning for what to do when plan "A" fails, is simply not allowed.  This is reminiscent of the good old Soviet Union way of doing things...

How does Obamacare affect car insurance? You get into a wreck. Your fault. Massive injuries, hundreds of thousands. You give all your insurance information to the hospital. Will it be paid? Will the hospitals and doctors accept it? In this whirlpool of chaos Obama has created, who can be sure of anything?

Since Obamacare was intended to be a 'Der Furher' type take over of all aspects of healthcare, will auto insurance still apply, or will it be a medical insurance loophole?

Our dentist is worried about how O'care will affect his practice, his patient records, his ability to write prescriptions, etc. No one's told him anything.

Interesting question.  Auto insurance provides coverage for injuries and medical care, so it's possible that those policies might, at some future date, be attacked as non-qualified health insurance policies and subjected to the same requirements as real health insurance policies.

Also, auto insurance companies might start to offer fewer and fewer medical benefits under their policies on the basic argument that, well, you're mandated to have your own health insurance which is supposed to cover your health/medical needs so there isn't any good reason for auto insurance to cover medical costs anymore (except to the extent that state insurance law forces them to provide such coverage).

How it works right now is you have an accident you have to Bill auto first.. it's called MEDPAY.  Once Medpay is exhausted you can Bill health insurance policy, but if you collect the settlement in the case insurance gets paid back.. Medicare will audit a patients files just to be certain the doctor didn't get paid from them and someone's other sources.  You always have to be careful and keep separate files on any of your patients who had an accident so if they come in due to the injury or for the flu you Bill the correct place.  If the patient has a lawyer when they settle with the other party the lawyer requests records so they can see what was paid by insurances and they cut a check to reimburse the insurance company.
