Active Shooter Reported at Fort Hood
Fort Hood locked down
KCEN-TV in Central Texas is reporting multiple people have been injured Wednesday in a second mass shooting at Fort Hood.
An official at the base said the post is on lock down.
KCEN reports at least one person has been transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition and that several others are injured.
The exact number of injured are not yet known.
The shooting is believed to have taken place at the Medical Brigade Building.
The shooter is believed to be at-large.
Fort Hood has not confirmed any information other than that there are reports of a shooting on the base.
In November 2009, 13 people were killed and more than 30 others injured when Maj. Nidal Hasan opened fire on dozens of people at the base. Hasan was paralyzed during an exchange of gunfire and, in late 2013, was sentenced to death. He is currently awaiting execution.

FORT HOOD (CBSDFW.COM) - Authorities are responding to a shooting at the Fort Hood army base, where at least one person is dead and at least three people are injured, according to the CBS affiliate in Waco. KWTX reports approximately 20 rounds were fired. The Bell Co Sheriff’s Dept confirms an active shooter is on post. The Sheriff’s Office is responding as well as the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Fort Hood has sent a tweet asking all personnel to take shelter in place.

Fort Hood is the site of one of the deadliest massacres on U.S. soil. On Nov. 5, 2009, then-Maj. Nidal Hasan carried two weapons inside, shouted “Allahu Akbar!” and opened fire. Hasan walked through the building, targeting anyone in a green Army uniform. Thirteen people were killed and more than 30 wounded. Hasan was found guilty and sentenced to death in 2013.

Shooting started at roughly 4:00PM.
Lock down lifted.
Police engaged the shooter who then killed himself.
They do not see any links to terrorism, but "nothing has been ruled out." FBI, AFT, local PD, Texas Rangers, Texas DPS, Army CID, etc. are assisting.
16 injured, 3 dead, not counting the shooter.

They have not notified his next of kin, so they will not release his name.
He served 4 months in Iraq in 2011.
Shooting occurred at two different buildings, the shooter drove from one location to another.
Shooter was using a S&W .45 caliber automatic pistol.
Arrived at Ft. Hood in February.
He was in a parking lot when engaged by military police; shot himself in the head when confronted.
Again refused to rule out terrorism, although nothing is pointing to it at this time.
Was not wounded in action nor has a Purple Heart.
All casualties were military.

I'm not military, so it doesn't affect me, but not allowing people who are TRAINED to use weapons to carry weapons makes no sense.
And I've never heard a satisfactory explanation as to why not.
But, it's their asses. More exactly, it was three asses today who couldn't defend themselves and lost their lives needlessly.
I really do think it's some of the commanders who fear getting shot over some of the trivia the military hierarchy dishes out.

Four people are dead and 16 people injured after a uniformed soldier with suspected PTSD opened fire on Fort Hood military base, where 13 people were killed in a massacre in 2009.
In a Wednesday night press conference, Lt Gen. Mark A. Milley confirmed shots rang out at the Killeen, Texas, base around 4p.m. local time and that military police responded within 15 minutes.
Milley said the shooter, identified earlier as 34-year-old Ivan Lopez, entered one building and fired shots at individuals then returned to a vehicle before entering a second building to fire more shots.
He finally turned his weapon, a .45 caliber Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol, on himself after a heroic female military police approached and engaged him, Milley said.
'It was clearly heroic what she did. She did her job and she did exactly what we would expect from a US military police,' he said, though didn't identify her.
Milley confirmed the married shooter had served in Iraq for four months in 2011, and was being treated for depression and anxiety. He was also in the process of being assessed for post traumatic stress disorder, though Milley insisted he had not yet been officially diagnosed.
