WASHINGTON -- Conservative leaders who are often allied with U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton blasted the Arkansas Republican on Thursday for attempting to derail bipartisan criminal-justice legislation.

At a Capitol Hill news conference, they urged him to support the First Step Act, which would shorten some federal criminal penalties and give judges greater leeway when sentencing certain offenders.

A Senate vote on the legislation, which addresses only federal offenses, is expected next week. President Donald Trump has urged lawmakers to pass the bill.

There hasn't been much discussion on this crime bill. I'm not sure what to think. Senator Cotton is so adamant against it but if other Republicans are for it?

The article even says the Fraternal Order of Police are for this bill.  :pondering:
