SANTA FE, N.M. (NewsNation) — Jury selection began Wednesday for Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer on the set of Alec Baldwin’s Western movie “Rust” who is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence in the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

This trial marks one of the most significant legal proceedings in Hollywood’s extensive film industry.

Gutierrez-Reed has pleaded not guilty to the charges and maintains she’s not directly to blame for Hutchins’ death. Baldwin also has pleaded not guilty to an involuntary manslaughter charge in a separate case.

In October 2021, Baldwin was rehearsing a scene that involved drawing a weapon and pointing it toward the camera when a single round went through Hutchins, fatally wounding her. Director Joul Souza was injured in the shoulder.

Baldwin claimed the gun discharged when he took it out of the holster and denied firing it, while an FBI report stated it could only have fired if the trigger had been pulled.

The weapons supervisor on the set of "Rust" who was accused of loading the prop gun that Alec Baldwin used to accidentally shoot and kill cinematographer Halyna Hutchins has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. She was acquitted on a charge of evidence tampering.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed had pleaded not guilty to both charges. Baldwin, who was pointing the gun at Hutchins when it went off, has also pleaded not guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter. The film's director, Joel Souza, was also injured in the incident. Souza testified in Gutierrez-Reed's trial, speaking emotionally about the incident.  ...
When he pulled the trigger, you mean.

I think we all knew Reed was going to be the patsy to take the fall for Baldwin.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer in the Alec Baldwin movie “Rust,” has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the accidental shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The decision on Wednesday came after less than three hours of deliberation.

Following the verdict, Ms. Gutierrez-Reed, 26, was immediately remanded into custody. The Arizona native now faces a potential sentence of up to three years in prison.  .  .  .

.  .  .  The prosecution focused on Ms. Gutierrez Reed’s alleged negligence in her role as an armorer.

“Hannah Gutierrez knew that Baldwin was loose. She knew it,” special prosecutor Kari Morrissey said during closing arguments. “She didn’t do anything about it, even though it was her job. It was her job. It is her job to say to an A-list actor, if in fact, that’s what you want to call him, ‘Hey, you can’t behave that way with those firearms.’ That is her job. That is what they pay her for. That is the job that she applied for. That is the job that she accepted.”

I'm not understanding how she was even involved with this.  Was she even there?  She certainly wasn't there when someone else handed Baldwin a loaded gun.  And why is she responsible for what Baldwin does?  She doesn't get paid to baby-sit his whiny ass.  It isn't her job.
