Reba McEntire, who hails from Chockie, and MercyMe, who have Edmond ties, were big winners this week at the Gospel Music Association's Dove Awards in Nashville, Tennessee.

McEntire, a Country Music Hall of Famer, received her first Dove Award for her first gospel album of her four-decade music career. Her 2017 double album "Sing It Now: Songs of Faith and Hope" was named Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year.

“These songs of faith and hope, that’s what you gotta have when you’re going through bad times – and good times. You gotta have faith and hope to carry you through each day," McEntire told me in an interview earlier this year.
