Doom is inevitable.  That's why we should not live in fear.  Enjoy the ride as long as you can before you reach the end of the line.

That's why the Global Climate Change cabal wants to do away with poor people.

People who can't afford more expensive renewable sources of energy are standing in the way of Global Climate Change utopia.

Have you ever seen poor people at the World Economic Forum?  No, because the poor are in their way.

Bass: I Have to Keep Residents ‘Safe’ from Border Patrol

Ian Hanchett 8 Jul 2025

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “All In,” Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass reacted to discussions about her being arrested by saying that she’s doing her job by protecting her residents “from my own government, from military that are supposed to be overseas fighting foreign enemies, from the Custom and Border Patrol” and from the National Guard.

Bass said, “Well, they’re going to arrest me for doing my job? As Mayor, my number one responsibility is to keep Angelenos safe.”

She continued, “Now, it never dawned on me that I would have to worry about keeping Angelenos safe from my own government, from military that are supposed to be overseas fighting foreign enemies, from the Custom and Border Patrol — we’re about 2.5 hours away from a border — or from the National Guard that [has] been federalized, unnecessarily. This is an example of the federal government essentially seizing power from a governor, federalizing the National Guard, bringing them to Los Angeles when nobody asked for them. These are young women and men that have pulled — that have been pulled out of work, they’ve been pulled from their families, they’ve been pulled from school for an assignment that is basically, I don’t know what this is, other than a political stunt. I do feel like L.A. is a petri dish, and we are the experiment and basically sending the signal to the nation that this is what’s coming your way, first, L.A., let’s see who’s next.”

Bass further said that she wasn’t interfering with federal agents.

MSNBC’s Menendez: Trump to ‘Terrorize Communities’ by Invading American Cities

Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” co-host Alicia Menendez said that President Donald Trump was invading American cities “to terrorize communities.”

Representative Nanette Barragan (D-CA) said, “California is a state where somebody is in need and people need help we send them in. And so I think that this is a good thing, and this is really what should America be coming together in a time of need instead of what we’re seeing happening in Los Angeles right now.”

Menendez said, “Well let’s talk about what’s happening in Los Angeles, specifically, what we heard from Mayor Bass today at a press conference about the appearance of ICE in your city. Take a listen.”

At a press conference in Los Angeles, Mayor Karen Bass (D) said, “What we have experienced over these last few weeks has just been shocking. As the city attorney mentioned yesterday, seeing troops, some on horseback ride through a children’s summer camp, disrupting that, traumatizing the kids.”

Menendez said, “So they’ve been trying to tell us, Republicans, that the invasion is coming from south of the border. It would seem that the invasion into American cities is coming from law enforcement deployed by this administration to terrorize communities. Am I getting that right?”

Barragan said, “No, you’re absolutely right.”

Clyburn: New Medicaid Work Requirements Could Cause People Not to Work, Are Like Jim Crow

Ian Hanchett 9 Jul 2025

On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Laura Coates Live,” Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) stated that the new work requirements for Medicaid under the reconciliation bill that was passed last week are “an attempt on the part of this administration to replicate that which took place when we saw the creation of Jim Crow” and “could very well result” in people not working.

Clyburn said, “[T]his awful piece of legislation, I think it’s the worst thing I’ve seen in my lifetime. And it mirrors stuff that I’ve studied in history. We are seeing an attempt on the part of this administration to replicate that which took place when we saw the creation of Jim Crow. When you see an administration doing the kind of things that this administration is doing, they’re taking food out of the mouths of babes, subjecting able-bodied people to the same kind of tests that you subject people to who have never worked.”

He continued, “Just think of what this new work requirement is all about. 85% of the people who get this aid or Medicaid are already working. And so, what we’re going to do is say that, even though you’re already working, we’re now going to subject you to a new test, which could very well result in your not working at all.”

Yet, we're still here.  Why do we keep putting credence into 'experts' who are never right?  If they were bookies, they'd be sleeping with the fishes.

Jeffries: I Trust Dem-Run States to Have Legit Elections in ’26, Not GOP-Run States

Ian Hanchett 9 Jul 2025

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Beat,” House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) responded to a question on whether he thinks the 2026 midterms will be rigged by saying that “in many of the states where there will be competitive gubernatorial elections and certainly in the overwhelming majority of the states where the House will be decided, there are Democratic governors, Democratic attorney generals, and Democratic secretaries of state” “And I’ve got trust in those leaders to make sure that there are actual free and fair elections.” But he’d “be far more concerned…if we were looking at a situation where the fate of the House would be determined in states where Republicans are in charge” of things.

Host Ari Melber said, “Someone listening might say, wow, that sounds good, I hope Hakeem Jeffries is right, but what if he’s wrong, what if we’re actually past the point where we can just count on free and fair elections, when, as you know — and to be fair, you’ve spoken out about this, of course — the person in the office, he won lawfully, he won the Electoral College in what we know to be a free and fair election. But, previously, when he lost, he tried to subvert that. We had a convicted sedition. He then freed the sedition convicts, as everybody knows. And so, there’s great concern about, not a repeat of 2020, but a more effective version of it. And you’ve heard this concern. It’s not just random sort of activists or the most extreme sort of people worrying about it. James Carville, a longtime sort of centrist Democratic figure, said this about rigging the midterms.”

Melber then played clips of Carville saying, “I’d say your concerns are legitimate. I would never tell anybody that’s worried that, no, don’t you worry about that.” And “he’s going to try to do anything that he can, possibly, to try to extricate himself from what is almost certain to be a humiliating loss in October of — November of 2026. So, people should be worried, they should be vigilant, they should watch this.”

Melber then asked, “Is this a legitimate concern? And, if so, what are you doing about it?”

Jeffries answered, “We have to be incredibly vigilant to make sure that there are free and fair elections. I think we have to look at what’s in front of us. And, this year, of course, there are the off-year elections in New Jersey and in Virginia, we’ve got to make sure that the Democratic nominee, Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) wins in New Jersey, the Democratic nominee, Abigail Spanberger, wins in Virginia. They’re both tremendous public servants, have served this country in a variety of different ways, including in the Congress. And then, of course, be prepared as it relates to the midterm elections. Now, the good news is, to the extent that there’s a silver lining in our electoral system, it is that we don’t have a national election system, it’s state by state by state. And, in many of the states where there will be competitive gubernatorial elections and certainly in the overwhelming majority of the states where the House will be decided, there are Democratic governors, Democratic attorney generals, and Democratic secretaries of state. I’d be far more concerned, honestly, Ari, if we were looking at a situation where the fate of the House would be determined in states where Republicans are in charge, because what we’ve seen –.”

Melber then cut in to ask, “So, you’re saying, to be clear, because it’s a patchwork, you’re saying you’ve studied this, and if there are Republicans trying to play games, they’re not actually overseeing the races that you think would control the House outcome?”

Jeffries answered, “That’s absolutely correct. There are seats in New York, seats in New Jersey, seats in Michigan, seats in California, seats in Wisconsin, seats in Pennsylvania, seats in Arizona, by way of example, that are going to determine, in large measure, who controls the House in the aftermath of the midterm election. Every single one of those states [has] Democratic governors, … Democratic attorney generals, Democratic secretaries of state. And so, that’s kind of the landscape that we find ourselves in. And I’ve got trust in those leaders to make sure that there are actual free and fair elections.”
