Smart marketing of brand.

[[ The Conservative Campaign Committee created an ad thanking Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for his attempts to defund Obamacare is airing during the televised broadcast of multiple NFL games. ]]
What they REALLY should have done was get the original two "Harry & Louise" actors back, with some new ads -- this time, about ObamaCare.
Such as...
- Harry & Louise have their old insurance cancelled.
- Harry & Louise try to get signed up with ObamaCare (impossible to navigate the site)
- Harry & Louise find their premiums have doubled -- and their deductible has tripled.
- Harry & Louise try to make an appointment with their doctor -- only to find he has retired his practice in frustration.
- Harry has to go for minor surgery -- and the dr. office wants the entire payment "up front" beforehand.
All presented during each NFL game...

That's a pretty cool commercial. It would be more impressive if Cruz was behind it. The ad buy is $50,000 in 12 smaller markets.

San Antonio is big, but where is Houston, Dallas, Austin and Fort Worth? Those are areas where Cruz is not as popular and could use a boost. Flattering though the ad may be, I wonder if Cruz and his image consultants are happy with the ad. It isn't designed to persuade liberals or moderates. It's designed to give a warm fuzzy to people who already adore Cruz. I think the Conservative Campaign Committee came up with a great way to raise money off Ted Cruz supporters. Why isn't Cruz capitalizing off his preemptive strike to the Obamacare clusterfunk?
Perhaps Cruz doesn't want to remind voters of the shutdown just yet.

Great ad. Cruz is ahead of the other candidates on this issue and he will reap huge benefits when he runs for the nomination.

Oh, blech.
Perhaps Cruz doesn't want to remind voters of the shutdown just yet.
Implied: Cruz was responsible for the shutdown. He wasn't. Reid and Obama were. The rest is pure Leftist propaganda.

I have no interest in debating who was responsible for the shutdown. I have read your arguments and found them lacking. You are entitled to your opinion, as are voters. Perhaps a majority of voters can be convinced blame falls on Reid and Obama. IMO it is unlikely.
Regardless of our difference of opinion I respect you and I wish you a happy Thanksgiving.

Ted Cruz is popular with a small segment of the GOP. The test of his wisdom will be whether or not he tries the shutdown stunt in January.
He will get no support, so he's likely not to even try it.

As a side note I ask everyone to consider: who has attacked Republicans more? Sinkspur or his phantom Tea Partiers?

I have no idea what you wrote, Cincinnatus, but it was no doubt an attack on me.
No matter. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

If Ted Cruz had gotten his way, the GOP would be in the toilet right now after a 3 month 'shutdown;, and America still wouldn't know what an enormous clussterfruck that ObamaCare really has turned out to be. It would have been the best holiday gift for the Dems that they could have wished for this fall.
It was a cute stunt by Cruz, but all it did was delay the inevitable, really. Many of us knew that ObamaCare was flawed from the beginning, yet only a few in the GOP chose to make themselves the story for a while, and not the obviously flawed law.

"The test of his wisdom?" What are you talking about? You wrote him off long ago, now you're talking about the wisdom he possesses?

So they are local ads, all running in Texas, and not even statewide. That's fine with me. You'd think that bretibart.com would point that out, instead of misleading their readers. If you read the comments, clearly a lot of people think this is a national campaign. Some are even calling for a Super Bowl ad.
Keeping conservative/GOP voters as low-info doesn't exactly help our cause.

He will reveal if he has any wisdom if he keeps a low profile during the budget and debt ceiling talks.
I suspect he's been chastened and knows he has no support to pull a similar stunt again.

Don't worry. Most Texans will be draining out the beer when these ads are on.

I read that the Conservative Campaign Committee is actively soliciting funds to run a "national" campaign on new years eve or new years day, but I now can't find the page. Here is there web site. http://www.conservativecampaign.org/
FEC filings show the group has about $220,000 cash on hand as of mid Nov. You can't run much of a "national" campaign for that.

The people at Breitbart are notorious for their spin and loaded (borderline deceptive) language.
