Masters neighbor refuses to sell home despite millions in offers from Augusta golf club
The purse for the Masters at Augusta National tops $18 million for 2024
By Jim DeRosa FOXBusiness
Augusta National Golf Club, home to the prestigious Masters Tournament, is undergoing ambitious expansion.
The club has doubled the size of its course, spending over $200 million to purchase properties covering 270 acres, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The club has substantial plans, including parking, housing and even the construction of a second 18-hole course down the road. Despite the buying spree, which has made many Augusta, Georgia, residents instant millionaires, one family is saying no, thank you.
Herman and Elizabeth Thacker built their home at 1112 Stanley Road in the city of Augusta in 1959. It's a modest 1,900-square-foot, three-bedroom home located across from Gate 6-A at the Masters.

August National will have to get the gubmint to help them use eminent domain laws to seize the property. For the public good, of course. *****rollingeyes*****
Hang in there, Mrs. Thacker!

I would get moveable fences.... when the yard needs mowing, move the fence.

After the mom dies and her body is still warm, the kids will sell it for the $1.3 million or more.

True statement. Sad, but true.

Ain't gonna happen. At least not from the Federal Government. They hate Augusta National. As for the State of Georgia, they still believe in the Fifth Amendment. For now, anyway.

That's the home where they made their memories and where those memories still live.
The country has too many greedy, rich, kleptocrats trying to steamroll regular, working folk.
If either of them has dementia or Alzheimers, they need to remain in a familiar place for their well being and the well being of their caretakers.
Not everybody in this country is for sale.
