California / Re: Celebrity chef blasts $50 minimum wage proposal

A minimum wage simply sets a barrier to the job market entry. You have to be able to produce more than you're being paid or you won't have a job. Young people starting out with no skills have to start somewhere. No job delays that start which causes numerous negative issues over time. And as the expense barrier increases there are strong incentives for the employers to come up with other ways to get the job done using fewer people and/or people that already have some basic skills.

So we import illegals, most of which know how to work, to do what jobs remain.

Government interference in the market distorts the market only increasing costs while lowering efficiency. The more that is piled on the more bogged down everything becomes. And the poorer as a nation we become.

I don't follow baseball much anymore either, except when it's either the Tigers or Royals playing - I just happened to look and they are playing today.  It's hard to pick because I am a fan of both teams.  More so I am a fan of the Royals I suppose.

There you go!  It's when your two favorite teams play each other that you find out which team is really your #1 favorite.

Here's hoping for a good game, either way.

And Liz Cheney has known it this entire time, yet helped the Democrats keep it buried.

She's evil.

It's so difficult for some folks to stay on topic.
I don't follow baseball much anymore, but Marcell Ozuna's season thus far sounds incredible - including his .344 batting average.

Right?  Especially considering that LAST April he was hitting .087.  :thud:

Was invited to a Saturday evening dinner at a local Mexican restaurant.  The joint was as big as a large grocery store.

It was packed.  Three dining rooms surrounded an open space bar that was chocked full of people...couldn't hear yourself think.

I estimated the gross receipts for that day to be about $150K to $200K.

Just shook my head...wondering what in the heck I was seeing.
Credit Card debt, I am sooo glad I don't have any...cards or debt.

He just HAD to add Beau on at the last second 🤦‍♀️  You'll never see President Trump sucking on a lozenge and smacking his lips as he speaks. Joe tried to slip in the "Suckers and Losers" lie but he forgot how it ends.

Let's hope that SCOTUS has seen this before they rule on the protest sentences.

Hopefully, one of the lawyers arguing before them is offering a strong case of entrapment.  Because that is exactly what this case is.  Entrapment.  Fully premeditated.
