Limbaugh: Hearings ‘cleansing of Mrs. Clinton’s record,’ 2008 campaign debt tied to testimony

Posted By Jeff Poor On 1:37 PM 01/23/2013 @ 1:37 PM

On his Wednesday radio program, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh said that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Wednesday testimony about last year’s terrorist attacks in Benghazi were designed to help her politically.

“What was happening here was the cleansing of Mrs. Clinton’s record in advance of her presidential run in 2016,” Limbaugh said. “Folks, this was banana republic kind of stuff. It was the kind of — You talk about two different worlds and isolation — the ruling class, the political class existing within its own borders, its world and its own set of rules and taking care of each other and making sure that everything’s fine.”

Limbaugh also had a theory tying these hearings to Clinton’s campaign debt, which had just reportedly been paid off.

“Do you realize just this week her campaign debt was paid off?” Limbaugh said. “Do you think there’s  any coincidence in the fact her campaign debt was paid off and her appearance before the joint committee today to talk about the guy in Benghazi? I don’t. I don’t think there’s any coincidence at all — got the campaign debt paid off and she’s free and clear, ready to go for 2016. And they’ve just tried to make amends because they gave her the shaft.  It was hers in 2008, folks.  And in came Obama and we all know what happened.”

Since Limbaugh became a national syndicated talk show phenom, the GOP has lost the Potus popular vote 5 of 6 times.

People in the middle, that can be persuaded to vote for either side, apparently nmay be entertained by Rush, but not persuaded regarding how they vote.

His style of entertainment accomplishes a big audience for hime, big income, but it does NOT help win elections.

Republicans and so-called conservatives listen to him cheer lead. They know the olde cheers. But fewer and fewer people show up on their side of the stadium come game time.

Rush's performances should be recognized for what they are: Episodes in an entertainment serial.

eg. Saturday Night Live, Mrs. Marple, Dallas.

What does that have to do with this article... other than an opportunity to say how much you dislike Rush?

I did not say that I disliked Rush.

Why do you repeatedly try to put words in my mouth, instead of responding to the substance of what I say?

Ahh, so Rush Limbaugh is in fact a titan, a king-maker, creating and disposing of would-be Presidents and other political figures?

Certainly not the words of someone who looks up to, admires, or loves Limbaugh.

Your words look like talking points from someone trying to discredit Limbaugh.

Correlations are often confused with some type of casual relationship.  Correlations are not facts, only curiosities put out by opponents.

Hows that for addressing your red herring.

Next time try being objective or at least a bit less obvious.
