Leaked video shows Navy fighter jet crashing on carrier USS Carl Vinson
By Yaron Steinbuch
February 7, 2022
Leaked video captured the harrowing moment a fighter jet crashed onto the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson before plunging into the South China Sea last month.
The pilot was recovered after ejecting from the F-35C Lightning II, which was seen bobbing in the water without its canopy. Seven sailors were wounded in the Jan. 24 incident.
“The ship has assessed that the video and photo covered in the media … were taken on board USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) during the crash,” US Navy 7th Fleet spokesperson Cmdr. Hayley Sims told Military.com in an email.
The footage captured the aircraft’s final moments from the Pilot’s Landing Aid Television, or PLAT, camera as well as from the ship’s so-called “island,” the command center for flight-deck operations.
The leaked video has been shared on Reddit, Telegram, Instagram and other social media sites, according to Business Insider.

Dangerous work, even in training.
The slightest error can be really bad..

It gets really exciting when rookies are qualifying for the first time. Usually planes are spotted all over the flight deck, but not when carquals are going on. Everyone has their crash avoidance spots picked out and are on high alert. In my time on a carrier, we never had any rookies put one in the drink but we did have a veteran hit the back of the ship one night. eeefly

Perhaps they should be putting F-18s on carriers instead of F-35s.

No word about who the pilot was.
I've read elsewhere that it was someone possessing XX chromosomes...

Another Leaked Video Offers a Dramatic View of F-35C Crash Aboard Carl Vinson
7 Feb 2022
Military.com | By Konstantin Toropin
The Navy has confirmed that the dramatic video of a F-35C Lightning II fighter crashing onto the USS Carl Vinson that began circulating on Reddit and Twitter on Sunday is genuine.
It's the third unauthorized release of media surrounding the Jan. 24 crash that injured seven people, including the pilot.
The video appears to have been shot with a mobile phone and shows roughly one minute's worth of crash footage playing on a desktop computer over two clips. In the footage, an F-35 fighter can be seen approaching the deck of the carrier before striking the deck and proceeding to skid along its belly and side.

After seeing this view, I think the pilot won't see more duty as a jet jockey! eeefly

Yes, Uncle Sugar takes a dim view of his air planes being dumped in the drink.....
Who ever leaked the video will be gone soon also... there are probably not more than a hand full of people that could have done it... bye bye career..

I don't think anyone on the flight deck would be stupid enough to have a future piece of FOD in their pocket. It must have been someone up on vulture's row or someone just behind the island.

If there were no jets fired up on the flight deck, they might be able to pick some strange sounds. If it as it normally is, it would be nearly impossible, if not totally, to pick some strange sounds. It is LOUD up there. The noise can be heard 4-5 decks below the flight deck. OMGGGGGGG This "possibility" makes me wonder if the jet jockey has a Navy Flag Officer in his/her immediate family. :pondering:
