Neighbors turn on St Louis who defended home with guns, call actions a ‘horrific event’
July 3, 2020 | Frieda Powers

The St. Louis couple who defended their home from Black Lives Matter protesters is now facing the condemnation of neighbors.

More than two dozen of Mark and Patricia McCloskey’s neighbors wanted to be clear they did not support the weapons-carrying couple who gained attention in a widely-seen video defending their home from protesters who broke through a gate to enter the private neighborhood on Sunday.

A letter was released from residents of Westmoreland Place on Wednesday condemning the “horrific event” and the actions of the Central West End couple, according to KMOV.

“Westmoreland Place and its adjoining street Portland Place are a historic neighborhood within the City of St. Louis, Missouri,” the letter signed by 38 neighbors read.

“From many walks of life, people choose to make this neighborhood home for many reasons, including the sincerity, empathy and neighborliness exhibited by the vast majority of those who live here,” the letter continued.

Lol, they are not against the act, they just don't want to be targeted next. They figure the letter will get them a seat at the table and not on the menu.

Wonder if the cowards would be feeling the same if the Antifa/BLM looters had burned down and ransacked their house.

Just goes to show that patriots are becoming rarer by the day, and the cowards just want to cower, capitulate, and bow down to the minute terrorist minority.  Just as long as it doesn't impact their net worth, or their comfy abode.

If it weren't obvious before the riots, then at least people are gaining a valuable education.  When you spend time in a left wing enclave, you are at the mercy of the inhabitants therein.  The local government may not help you in a crisis.  Your neighbors are going to be unreliable flakes.  Basically, you have left the USA, and are an adventure-tourist.

These neighbors see the event as politically polarizing and of course, being good progressives, come down squarely against anything that they see as being approved of by the 'right'. It doesn't matter what the issue or the argument, no thought at all goes into their reaction - it's knee jerk and 100% predictable.

Leftists are political zombies.

Honestly, it has been my experience that  patriots and conservatives saw the writing on the wall several years ago, and got the hell out of dodge of large cities, and went to the 'burbs and rural areas.    What remains that live in big cities is either the poor who can't leave, or wealthy bleeding heart liberals who just can't escape their guilt, while residing in highly guarded and gated communites.

There are plenty of white liberals who think if they appease the crocodile, they will be eaten last. But eaten they will be.
There was a story a week ago about some young, white liberal in Minneapolis who had his car stolen by two armed, young, black punks.
When interviewed by the media he said he was loath to give too much info about the thugs to the police, because their, the thugs, lives might be put in danger from the police.
That's how stupid many white liberals are.

For the first time in my life I can imagine myself leaving the state I was born in. While we're not under any physical threat the laws and regulations are becoming so onerous it is almost impossible for small businesses to make a living here. Might as well be burned out by rioters.

Unchecked the left destroys everything it touches.

So, it's a whole neighborhood of submissive cucks?

Accordong to wiki the Westmoreland and Portland Place communites have 94 homes.  That means their little petition may have only netted about 10-15% of residents. If taking account some of those homes probably have. 2-5 occupants.  Also was the list vetted and verified?  How many didn't live there.

Those kind of facts are never brought up.

Wealthy bleeding heart liberal hypocrites.... who live in a gated community (the gate was broken down by the "protestors"), probably own guns while voting for anti-gun ownership Democrats and who don't mind having their own "wall" for protection, but mock and ridicule and vote against Trump's "wall" and illegal immigration policies.

@mystery-ak

Has there ever been a greater need for a new public housing development in any neighborhood in America?

@catfish1957

What makes you think they would care about that? These people, unlike most people who live in "public housing neighborhoods" are almost certainly over-insured. They would see it as an opportunity to not only build a newer and flashier mansion, but to also claim to be "victims of white middle-class racism in America".

Hell, they would even be local celebrities in their social circles.

These people live in a world that is so different than the world of the typical working-class Americans that they might as well be aliens living on another planet.

Maybe if they kept their most precious momentous at a different location (family photos, artifacts, collectables etc).

That is why I keep using that number 38.  If the truth was known, I am guessing the cowards are part of a small capitulating minority.

You wouldn't have to. The neighbors that didn't sign the petition would be happy to do that for you.

In a quiet,reserved manner,of course.

Certainly holds true for St. Louis as it hold the record for the most shrinkage of any big city in America

Quote
1. St. Louis
• Decline from 1950 decade peak: -64.7%

• 1950 population: 856,796

• 2018 population: 301,048

With a population of 856,796, St. Louis was the eighth largest city in the country in 1950. The city’s population has steadily declined since then to just over 300,000 in 2018, ranking as only the 64th largest city in the United States. Like other cities with long-term population declines, adverse socioeconomic conditions are prevalent in parts of St. Louis. East St. Louis, for example, is far and away the most dangerous city in Illinois and one of the most dangerous cities in the United States. Also, one in four people living in St. Louis live in poverty, well above the national poverty rate of 14.6%.

While St. Louis may not be booming, certain aspects of the city do show signs of renewed prosperity. Relatively high immigration from Asia has helped offset some of the out-migration. The city’s sports teams, the Cardinals and the Blues, do very well, which can help support population and economic growth. And, plenty of universities and large companies still operate and thrive in the city.

Big cities have been going "donut" for decades.   As the hole in the middle grows, the dough of the suburbs/exurbs grows.  As the big cities seize control of the State governments, people and companies have been "exurbing" entirely out of their states.  @DB moved from the Bay Area to the next state over.  A billion-dollar investment house is moving from Seattle to Phoenix.  Voting with the feet is continuing apace.

Last I heard something like 65% of the programmers there were foreign born. No history or understanding of our culture. No knowledge of our constitution and why it makes us different. They came for the opportunity yet failed to understand that that opportunity was a result of our history and culture rooted in our constitution. And now they are uprooting the very thing that brought them here.

St.Louis might be an exception. It has been a VERY scary place for a long time.
