House Democrat under investigation by Department of Justice, sources say
11h
The Department of Justice is investigating a Democrat in the House of Representatives for allegedly misusing government funds for personal security, according to sources familiar with the matter.
DOJ issued a grand jury subpoena to the House Sergeant at Arms for documents.
"This is to notify you formally pursuant to rule 8 of the rules of the House of Representatives that the office of the sergeant at arms for the House of Representatives has been served with a grand jury subpoena for documents issued by the U.S. Department of Justice," the clerk announced on the House floor earlier Monday.

CONFIRMED: House Democrat Being Criminally Investigated Is 'Squad' Member Cori Bush
By Bonchie | 10:53 AM on January 30, 2024
As RedState reported on Monday, a House Democrat is currently under criminal investigation for the misuse of government funds under the guise of paying for "security" services. Heavy speculation revolved around that Democrat being Rep. Cori Bush, and that has now been confirmed.
According to Punchbowl News, which broke the original story, the DOJ has subpoenaed the House Sergeant at Arms, who has records of how the money was allocated.

Bush's troubles involving payments for "security services" are well known, with allegations that she paid her now-husband $60,000 in early 2023. That dynamic raised eyebrows because the man in question was not even licensed to provide security services in Missouri.

They need to investigate all the 'Squad' members. Omar in particular.

The current semi-rumor (annoymorously sourced) is that it's Cori Bush, https://hotair.com/karen-townsend/2024/01/30/doj-investigating-house-democrat-for-improper-use-of-government-funds-n608334 ... again.

Merged.

Cori Bush denies she used federal tax dollars for personal security: "Any reporting that I have used funds for personal security is simply false... right-wing organizations have launched baseless complaints against me." She must have missed the DOJ involvement - hardly "right-wing."

Cori Bush admitted in her presser that she has been paying her now-husband lots of money to provide "security services." He is not licensed to provide such in Missouri. She just admitted to using campaign funds to pay for an illegal service.
Whoops.

As for the race card, the lovely brother-lovin' Ilhan played it for her:
Melanie Zanona
@MZanona
GOP Rep. Troy Nehls slammed Dem Rep. Cori Bush today for using campaign funds to pay her husband for security services, and also said Bush -- a black member of the Squad who has faced death threats – is “loud” and should “tone it down” if she doesn't want to face threats.

The loud black woman trope is racist and tired. The Congressman should apologize and all members of Congress should condemn him. No one in our government deserves to be threatened regardless how loud they advocate for their positions and blaming the victim of harassment and threats can’t be condoned.
