FIRST ON FOX: Blood was seen seeping from the house where four University of Idaho students were brutally murdered over the weekend as a report of a previous campus threat surfaced.

Fox News Digital obtained the grisly new photos of the crime scene Wednesday that showed blood dripping from the first floor bedroom down an exterior wall at the back of the house.

"It was very bloody scene inside," an officer said.

Back in September, campus security sent out what is known as a "Vandal Alert" to staff and students with the subject line "Threat with Knife" notifying the community of the alarming incident.

University of Idaho murders: two roommates were at home when four students were killed
Idaho police said that there 'remains' a threat to the community, but believe the incident is 'targeted'

By Adam Sabes | Fox News

Two roommates were at the Moscow, Idaho home while four University of Idaho students were killed on early Sunday morning, but didn't call 911 to report the incident until around noon, according to Moscow Police Department Chief James Fry.

Ethan Chapin, 20; Xana Kernodle, 20; Madison Mogen, 21; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21 were killed inside a home on King Road between the hours of 3 and 4:00 a.m., according to Moscow Mayor Art Bettge.

Police found the deceased students when responding to a call regarding an unconscious person on Sunday at 11:58 a.m.

In a press release on Tuesday, police said that the suspect used an "edged weapon such as a knife" in the attack, adding that investigators believe the incident was "an isolated, targeted attack" with "no imminent threat to the community at large."

Fry said in a press conference on Wednesday evening that two roommates were inside the home during the attack.

He added that the two roommates were "unhurt," and didn't say if the individuals were witnesses to the four students being killed.

As of Wednesday night, Fry said that police don't have a suspect and are working to identify a person of interest.

Idaho police backtrack and admit there is a threat to the public after four students murdered

Io Dodds
Thu, November 17, 2022 at 8:03 AM·2 min read

Idaho police have distanced themselves from claims that the unsolved murder of four students poses no danger to the public, saying: "There is a threat out there still."

Officials in the small college town of Moscow had insisted that there was "no imminent threat to the community at large", despite identifying no suspects.

Investigators do not yet know who killed Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Kaylee Goncalves with an "edged weapon" in the small hours of Sunday morning.

On Tuesday, Moscow police chief James Fry admitted that the killer could still be at large, partially walking back the department's previous statements.

Asked at a press conference how he could be sure there was no danger, Mr Fry said: "That's kind of unknown... we still believe it's a targeted attack, but the reality is, there's still a person out there who committed horrible, horrible crimes.

"So there is a threat out there still, possibly. We don't know it's going to be to anybody else. But we all have to be aware of our surroundings and make sure that we're watching out for each other."

He expressed regret over the limited information given by police over the preceding two days.

"We had a lot of information coming in, and we have tried to push out some information through press releases.

"The reality is, I probably should have been up here a day or so ago. But I'm here now. We're going to continue to be here. We're going to continue to give you the information we can.

University of Idaho victim's father says Xana Kernodle had 'bruises,' put up a fight against killer
Xana Kernodle's father also revealed that the suspect either knew the code to her door lock or entered through a side door

By Audrey Conklin | Fox News

University of Idaho homicide victim Xana Kernodle's father, Jeff Kernodle, said his daughter had "bruises" on her body indicative of putting up a good fight with her attacker in an interview with an Arizona news outlet.

Xana Kernodle, 20, was killed in the early morning hours of Nov. 13 — along with her boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, and two friends, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves — in a home on King Road in Moscow, Idaho, near the university. Police have not mentioned any suspects or a motive as of Thursday.

"Bruises, torn by the knife," Jeff Kernodle told Arizona news outlet 3TV/ CBS 5, adding that her injuries showed signs of putting up a fight against her attacker. "She’s a tough kid. Whatever she wanted to do, she could do it,"

He also told the outlet that the door to their home "locks with a number code."

University of Idaho murders: police can't say if survivors are witnesses or suspects
4 Idaho student murders seem 'personal,' the coroner told a local news outlet

By Rebecca Rosenberg | Fox News

FIRST ON FOX: The female roommates who were home when four Idaho college students were savagely stabbed to death Sunday in a house near campus haven't been ruled out as suspects, an official told Fox News Digital.

"These are people who may have seen the crime but on the flip side may have committed the crime," said Aaron Snell, communications director for the Idaho State Police. "We don’t know if they are witnesses, victims or suspects, so until we do a thorough investigation, naming them would be inappropriate."

Snell added that the roommates had been "fully cooperative."

It was revealed Wednesday at a press conference, that the roommates had been home when Ethan Chapin, 20; Madison Mogen, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, were brutally attacked with an "edged weapon," likely a knife, between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m.

Police found the gruesome scene on King Road, in Moscow, Idaho, after responding to a 911 call around noon reporting an "unconscious individual."

Authorities haven't identified the caller or offered an explanation for why the savage murders weren't reported sooner if there were people in the same house.

"How do you take four lives and no one hears?" Joseph Morgan, distinguished scholar of applied forensics at Jacksonville State University, told Fox News Digital. "This sent shivers up my spine."  ...

Idaho coed killer: FBI profiler reveals suspect’s likely attributes
Questions linger as Sunday marked one week since four University of Idaho students were discovered fatally stabbed

By Stephanie Pagones , Ashley Papa | Fox News

The suspect behind the unsolved murders of four University of Idaho students earlier this month was likely someone who knew the victims or a stalker who was familiar with their habits, one of the nation’s foremost criminal profilers hypothesized on Tuesday.

Tuesday marked nine days since the co-eds were discovered stabbed to death inside their Moscow, Idaho, home. As of Sunday, local, state and federal law enforcement had received at least 646 tips in the week since the Nov. 13 attack, but are still searching for the person or people behind it.

Jim Clemente, a retired FBI supervisory special agent and criminal behavioral analysis expert, told Fox News Digital he believed the suspect was likely a young man who has not carried out such violent crimes before.

"He’s sloppy," Clemente said, when reached by phone on Tuesday. "This is probably more of a compulsive kind of person, that would put him at a younger age and, maybe in the age group or just above the victims."

"I don’t think he’s particularly sophisticated, criminally sophisticated or forensically sophisticated," he added.

The killer’s decision to commit such a brazen crime was indicative of his relationship with one or more of the victims, Clemente hypothesized.

Idaho police may be probing whether killer hid in the woods before college coed massacre
The Idaho college students were knifed to death on the second and third floors of the home

By Rebecca Rosenberg | Fox News

Idaho investigators may be probing whether the killer hid in the woods before entering the victims' off-campus home and slaughtering them with a knife, Fox News Digital has learned.

Police said they have not identified any suspects or determined whether there was more than one assailant in the grisly Nov. 13 attack on Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle.

On Monday, a cluster of FBI agents and Idaho State Police officers were seen behind the three-story home on King Road trying to peer through the third-floor windows of Mogen's room, which showcase a pair of pink cowboy boots.

Police have said that the victims were murdered on the second and third floors.

"They can look from the bushes and see a lot when the house is illuminated at night. That's troubling," said professor Joseph Morgan, distinguished scholar of applied forensics at Jacksonville State University. Morgan is not involved in the case but is following it closely.

King Road passes in front of the home then curves right up a steep hill and terminates in a parking lot behind the house. The parking lot belongs to an apartment located to the left of the house.

DailyMail.com can reveal where each of the four murdered University of Idaho students were found stabbed to death in their off-campus rental house on November 13
Blueprints and layout plans of the Moscow, Idaho. home obtained by DailyMail.com reveal the three-story property has two bedrooms on each floor - with the killings taking place on the top two floors
Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen, both 21, were found dead in their beds on the third floor, while young college couple, Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle both 20, were found in the front second floor bedroom
Surviving roommates, sophomores  Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke slept in the first floor bedrooms, which suggests the killer entered through a sliding glass door that leads from an outdoor patio to the kitchen

Idaho murders: Third unsolved stabbing attack resurfaces amid college slaying mystery
Sandra Ladd, 71, was found stabbed to death in Washougal, Oregon, on June 14, 2020

By Michael Ruiz | Fox News

MOSCOW, Idaho - As investigators skipped Thanksgiving celebrations to continue their search for a suspect in the unsolved slaying of four University of Idaho students, a third unsolved stabbing in the Pacific Northwest has resurfaced with eerie similarities.

Reporters at a news briefing Wednesday asked Moscow police about the possible connection between the students’ slayings and a second unsolved stabbing, which left Travis Juetten dead and seriously injured his wife Jamilyn in Oregon.

Authorities say an intruder attacked the couple in their sleep around 3 a.m. on Aug. 13, 2021.

Travis Juetten, 26, fought back but succumbed to his injuries. His wife, who is 26 now, survived 19 stab wounds.

Idaho murders: Two weeks have passed since four college students stabbed to death at off-campus house
Police ask anyone with information on the University of Idaho murders to call tip line at 208-883-7180

By Michael Ruiz | Fox News

MOSCOW, Idaho – Two weeks have passed since four University of Idaho college students were stabbed to death in an off-campus rental home, and police have no suspects.

Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Madison Mogen, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Ethan Chapin, 20, were found dead at a house just yards off campus, hours after police say someone attacked them in their sleep on Nov. 13. The three women lived there, and Chapin was visiting his girlfriend, Kernodle.

Investigators have conducted more than 150 interviews and received over a thousand tips in the case so far, said Aaron Snell, communications director for the Idaho State Police. But they are asking anyone who knows anything to come forward, even with minute details.

"At this point, we haven't ruled out anything," he told Fox News Digital. "We are looking at all angles"

Latah County Prosecuting Attorney Bill Thompson told NewsNation Tuesday that saying the attack was “targeted” might not have been the best word choice and that it perhaps means different things to different people.

He added investigators believe the suspect was looking at “this particular residence,” but couldn’t say if a certain individual was on the killer’s radar. He also said he was not aware that drugs played a role in the killings.

Scream’ picked up by police bodycam night of Idaho murders: report
By Dana Kennedy
December 17, 2022 10:23am
Quote
A police officer’s bodycam picked up a high-pitched sound that could have been a scream on the night four University of Idaho college students were slaughtered in their beds.

The sound was recorded at 3:12 am on Nov. 13, by a Moscow, Idaho cop responding to an incident unrelated to the murders but also near the university campus, the Daily Mail reported Saturday.

The sound was heard around the time the students were killed, and while some think it was a scream, others speculated it could also be the squeal of car tires pulling away.

So far, the police have not made much if any progress, at least publicly, in solving the savage deaths of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin in the three-story home in the college town. The four were members of the university’s Greek system and all were friends. Two students on the first floor were left unscathed. ...

The Student Murders in Idaho Highlight the Unimpressive Police Record on Violent Crime
crime

12/07/2022Ryan McMaken
Listen to the Audio Mises Wire version of this article.
It's been three weeks since four students at the University of Idaho were stabbed to death at a home in Moscow, Idaho, and law enforcement officers say they have no suspect. In the early hours of November 13, three women and one man were murdered in an off-campus home where two other roommates were also sleeping. Yet, somehow the killer or killers managed to escape the premises without being seen or even waking the other roommates.

The small local police department in the city of approximately 25,000 people now reports it is being assisted by 48 FBI investigators plus 13 investigators from the state police. Yet, in spite of all this extra spending and staffing, the police department has reported no breakthroughs in the investigation.

The investigation has also been marred by alarmingly incoherent attempts to address public safety in the community following the homicides. Immediately after the homicide took place, for instance, police spokesmen confidently claimed the public was not at risk, even though the killer or killers were at large. Perhaps in an effort to make themselves seem competent, police claimed they were sure the victims were specifically "targeted" and the murderer was—for some reason—absolutely no threat to others. Only a day later, however, the police admitted they don't know if the victims were specifically targeted or if the crime was somehow a random act. Weeks later, the police still don't know, and more skeptical students have been taking steps to arm themselves and secure their homes from intruders. Fear runs so high that the University of Idaho campus is reportedly "half empty."

The parent of one victim has noted "we're angry" about law enforcement's lack of progress. The parent of another victim has turned to a private investigator.

A newly uncovered video might provide fresh clues into the murder of four University of Idaho students.
