The Allman Brothers Band's Dickey Betts is in critical condition in a Florida hospital awaiting brain surgery following a fall at his home in Little Sarasota Bay home.

The 74-year-old guitar player, one of the iconic band's founding members, will undergo the critical operation on Friday, according to a statement on his website.

The musician was injured Monday 'while playing with the family dog,' as he 'slipped and cracked his head, causing bleeding from the brain,' according to the statement....
