Where do I sign up for my disability check? /sarc
Ask anyone coming down from the high of one too many cups of coffee, and they'll tell you that the headaches from caffeine withdrawal can drive you crazy. So much so, that the latest version of psychiatry’s bible, DSM-5, is naming caffeine withdrawal as an actual mental disorder.

So what's the treatment?
That being said, I would watch the slow psycho-creep going on with the DSM. It will not be that much of a stretch for the authors to start classifying certain political positions as "disordered" a-la the old Soviet Union.

It happened already: Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Given what happened to me the last time I tried to give up caffeine cold turkey, I'm surprised I wasn't locked in a padded room for a month.
-
So what's the treatment?
Simply put, a day or two of rest generally does the trick. That gives enough time for the body to readjust and recouperate from the lost sleep. I do not drink any caffeinated beverages on days I don't have to work. Yes, I'm tired, but the detox days clear my system and help prevent it from developing a resistance.
Fortunately caffeine does not have anywhere near as long of a withdrawal period as more illicit drugs. Unfortunately, in many professions, the substance is practically a necessity.

Hmph. I'm not allowed to have caffeinated drinks.................
-
It'll give ya one heluva headache.
-
It is like anything. We are all affected by all products differently. My husband couldn't consume caffeine at all and MSG made him sick for days. He also has asthma and I suspect it is all linked.
-
The only real side effect I've ever had from leaving off caffeine for a while is that I feel sleepy for the first day or so.
-
Just another reason to deny someone the right to own a gun. :silly: :thud:

Can I collect disability for this....... :bolt:
