Horowitz: Career criminal, back on the street after murder and three more convictions, arrested for looting in Chicago
Daniel Horowitz · June 5, 2020

Republicans seeking to weaken our anti-crime deterrent rather than strengthen it in the face of mass rioting are learning the wrong lesson from the creeping anarchy in this country.

The case of Antonio Harris, one of the many looters arrested in Chicago, should serve as a stark reminder that our criminal justice system is actually way too lax against the most violent career criminals, not too tough.

One of the major points being obscured in this debate is that crime has been increasing in many major cities over the past few years, after two decades of steady declines. It coincides with the near-universal movement toward leniency at every stage of the justice system being pushed by the bipartisan Soros-Koch alliance under what is known as “criminal justice reform.”

Hundreds of thousands of criminals have been released in recent years, 67,000 just under the pretext of avoiding coronavirus in jail and prison. A relatively small number of career criminals commit most of the violent crime in the country. President Reagan understood this, which is why he led a successful generational effort to take those people off the streets.

What makes me puke is that Donald Trump declares he is "law and order" president but touts Criminal reform which let out tens of thousands of criminals.   Much of who could be on the streets right now looting stores.

Horowitz has been on this story since they passed the bill and absolutely it has released criminals on to the streets.  Furthermore AG Barr gave the direction to let criminals out onto the streets when there was no hope of finding employment.  What do you expect them to do?  With Trumps record on crime he is not the "law and order" president.  He is the advocate for criminals.  Violent ones, sex offender ones.  He has put his approval on crime.

I raise you two  :3:  :3:  :3:

Trump is lenient on crime.  He is anarchy king.

And all First Act did was mimic the way that Democrats pander to the African American communities.  And if you look at the protests Trump owns them.  He is the one that has said African Americans proportionately higher level are imprisoned.  Never mind that they actually committed crimes.  Crimes against their own communities.  Shouldering with the violent Mexican Cartel to flood their own cities with drugs.

It was a Democratic play...., Criminal Reform.   Instead of saying lets keep African Americans from falling into gangs and drug activities.  Its takes a bigger effort to take back communities from crime and poverty than just letting criminals out of jail.

A convicted felon who became one of the faces of the “First Step Act” law after his release from prison last year has since been re-arrested for allegedly trafficking meth in North Carolina.

Troy Powell stood behind President Donald Trump at last year’s White House ceremony celebrating the passage of the First Step Act, which has released at least 3,100 convicted felons from federal prison including at least 59 convicted killers and assailants, 239 convicted sex offenders, 960 inmates with drug convictions, 106 convicted robbers, 496 inmates with weapons and explosives convictions.

From Blue Lives Matter:

Former Latin Kings leader Joel Francisco began violating his release conditions within weeks of his release from prison.
Providence, RI – A convicted felon who was released from his life sentence in February under President Donald Trump’s First Step Act has since been arrested for allegedly stabbing a man to death.

Convicted crack-cocaine dealer Joel Francisco, 41, was sentenced to life in federal prison in 2005 for his third felony drug conviction, the Providence Journal reported.

In his application for release under new criminal justice reform legislation, the former Latin Kings gang leader boasted about his "significant efforts toward post-conviction rehabilitation,” and said he had “commit[ed] himself to a law-abiding life,” CNN reported.

91 Percent of Inmates Freed by First Step Act Were Black. Should We Give Republicans Credit?

First Step Act

But upon further examination, the report shows how the criminal justice system, especially in Republican states, is stacked against black people.

In 2010, President Barack Obama signed the Fair Sentencing Act of 2010, which narrowed the gap in racially discriminatory crack vs. cocaine sentences by 82 percent. The Sentencing Commission’s report specifically examines the effects of the First Step Act that retroactively applied Obama’s 2010 law to nonviolent drug offenders who were convicted before the Fair Sentencing Act took was enacted into law.

That site was complete with the black fist we see on protesting signs.  They say Trump took his play from Obama.

Trump touts criminal reform frequently as a success.  It is true, and the only thing Americans got from it was criminals on the streets.  Yet not a word from any Trump supporter.  Because letting criminals out buys African American votes.  The criminal kind.

And I have to say our problems in Seattle are directly connected to drug crime.  This feeds into the very problem we have where officers want to arrest people but they are held back from doing their jobs.  Its a revolving door.  They arrest them and they are let out the same day.  This is the same thing on a bigger scale.  These people being release were the ones that were sentenced and managed to make it to prison instead of released back on the streets.  But how infuriating it is to know that criminal who have been through the justice process are being released for votes.

And funny but Washington's Most wanted is proportionately higher Hispanic.

https://www.wsp.wa.gov/crime/wsp-most-wanted/ (https://www.wsp.wa.gov/crime/wsp-most-wanted/)

But much of the drug convictions could be African American due to Democratic policies that allowed generational poverty for inner cities.  And instead of being tough on crime that draws African American into a life of crime Trump follows the Democratic playbook of poor African Americans.  Not all African Americans live in the inner cities Mr. Trump.   Letting drug dealers out early does nothing for the African American community.  The only ones cheering are the ones involved in crime.

And let me be absolutely clear.  I see a clear connection between First Act and the criminal element of rioting.  Because those are the people who feel they are the ones victims of injustice, and really they are just criminal thugs.  Thugs Donald Trump believes deserve a second chance.

@Chosen Daughter

Quit lying. EVERYTHING about Trump makes you want to puke, starting with he's not a RINO,and ending with "he had sex with women he wasn't married to while he was married."

Go ahead and say it. You know you want to.

Sure. One unfortunate case, does not invalidate a policy reform which has wide support.

Measure supported by Sen Ted Cruz, R-TX, Sen Mike Le R-UT, Sen Rand Paul, R-KY, Rep Doug Collins, R-GA

Many conservative I really respect, and I know what a conservative is.   (not Seattle "socialism)

People who don't engage in critical, logical thinking would make a single incident the basis for an entire policy (or policy change), instead of considering all the facts, all the implications, all the probabilities.

Meanwhile that lack of critical thinking is played like a Marlin by people determined to impose a totalitarian society on the country/world.  You know...Democrats.
