Army Spec. Alec Alcoser pins the Purple Heart on a bomb-sniffer dog named Alex
Army Spec. Alec Alcoser served alongside bomb-sniffer dog Alex in Afghanistan. They both suffered injuries during a suicide bomber attack near Bagram Airfield, and the two were reunited and awarded Purple Hearts in early September.

I'm not a fan of Texas Monthly, but this is a good story.

I certainly hope that they are reunited permanently. It doesn't sound like it's a done deal. :shrug:
