The Valley Morning Star reports that Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth), who is running for governor of Texas and became nationally known after she stood for an eleven-hour pro-abortion filibuster, astonishingly claimed to be "pro-life" while campaigning at the University of Texas at Brownsville.

Quote
I am pro-life. I care about the life of every child: every child that goes to bed hungry, every child that goes to bed without a proper education, every child that goes to bed without being able to be a part of the Texas dream, every woman and man who worry about their children’s future and their ability to provide for that future. I care about life and I have a record of fighting for people above all else.

Davis continued, “When I believe women’s health is in danger, I’m going to stand and fight to protect that. This isn’t about protecting abortion," she deflected. "It’s about protecting women. It’s about trusting women to make good decisions for themselves and empowering them with the tools to do that.”

If Davis is trying to appear compassionate, it’s going to be a stretch. During her filibuster, in order to strengthen her pro-abortion stance, she implied that the 20-week old fetus does not feel pain. She answered a question about the subject by stating:

Quote
Now, once again I refer to the section of the bill: “the State has a compelling state interest in protecting the lives of unborn children from the stage at which substantial medical evidence indicates that these children are capable of feeling pain.” The abstract that I just read to you refutes that. There are other articles that refute that as well.

She is pro-life now because she needs the votes.  :smokin:

Charles Manson is pro-life, too.  So were Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Pol Pot. :woohoo:

I don't think she's pro-life the way the rest of us are.  I think she's trying to redefine it into something liberal.

I doubt she is pro-life. Never thought of that...redefining it.

redefining it.

That is what liberals do with everything, redefine the Constitution, redefine the definition of marriage, redefine life, redefine history, etc., etc., etc.

In the meantime we are losing our country as we keep voting to allow the progressives to move the needle more toward European-style socialism.  This includes the GOP as well as Democrats.  Look at the people we have in the GOP who revere Teddy Roosevelt (McCain, Hatch, Rove, etc.) and TR was a Progressive - he was not a conservative....... and a case could be made that TR gave rise to Wilson who started this slide - followed by the Roosevelt New Dealism... and then the LBJ stuff....
