Fugitive former U.S. spy contractor Edward Snowden controls dangerous information that could become the United States' "worst nightmare" if revealed, a journalist familiar with the data said in a newspaper interview.

Glenn Greenwald, the Guardian journalist who first published the documents Snowden leaked, said in a newspaper interview published on Saturday that the U.S. government should be careful in its pursuit of the former computer analyst.

"Snowden has enough information to cause harm to the U.S. government in a single minute than any other person has ever had," Greenwald said in an interview in Rio de Janeiro with the Argentinian daily La Nacion.

"The U.S. government should be on its knees every day begging that nothing happen to Snowden, because if something does happen to him, all the information will be revealed and it could be its worst nightmare."

Good grief, just what info does Snowden have and how did someone of his limited education and role in life get ahold of it?

Supposedly, Greenwald made these statements in order to warn the Obama WH to see to it no harm came to Snowden, so it may all be a bluff, but then again, maybe not.

Ha! Ha! If only! He would be doing a great service to America, should he release Obama's personal documents.

It does seem a hyperbolic statement, but it will be interesting to see whether Snowden really has any  information that matters.

It might not be Snowden's "info."

It might be Greenwald himself. He has spoken openly of his disdain for the United States.

There's a lot of potential irony in this whole story.  What if Russia grants Snowden asylum and Putin gets this "damaging" information?  To think that these things that we have all speculated about - might come out via Putin.....definitely a twist to the plot!

I've no doubt that the Russians will pump him for all he's worth before they agree to granting asylum.
