onight, in Chicago — the nation’s murder capital, Barack Obama boasted of his self-styled achievements as president, and gave a preview of his future as the nation’s first activist former president. The setting provided a bitter irony for Obama’s self-praising. Chicago is both where Obama honed his activist chops, and is one of the places most negatively affected by his policies. A perfect allegory for a failed presidency.
In the final year of the Obama presidency, under the guidance of his former chief of staff Rahm Emmanuel, Chicago’s murder rate has spiked. This is directly the result of president Obama’s war on cops. Rather than put themselves in danger through aggressive policing, Obama’s friends in the Black Lives Matter movement have made their neighborhoods more dangerous, with police just staying out of certain neighborhoods.
Chicago is Obama’s legacy. Tonight he tried to put a shine on his legacy. But the facts tell a different story.
Obamacare
Obama once again touted success with Obamacare. He crowed about millions more now insured. That may be true, but at what cost? He even, with no hesitation, said that health costs are growing at their “lowest rate in 50 years.” As CR’s Daniel Horowitz recently explained Obamacare is more expensive than if nothing had been done … especially when it comes to Medicaid. ...

On Tuesday night, President Barack Obama took to the stage one final time to give a farewell address. Americans couldn’t wait to see him go.
But he wouldn’t.
For 45 minutes, he babbled, fibbed, rehashed the good times and the other good times, the victories and the other victories, told a hackneyed fairy tale about the young prince who arrived in the swamps of Washington D.C. and left it a utopian vision at the mercy of an evil Troll.
And the media wept.
Unfortunately, the speech was chock full of fibs.
Here were 15 of the worst falsehoods.
1. He Believes Change Comes From Ordinary People. Obama said, “I learned that change only happens when ordinary people get involved, get engaged, and come together to demand it. After eight years as your president, I still believe that.” Really? That’s odd. His signature legislation forced benighted Americans to purchase health insurance and required religious Americans to forego their religious objections to contraceptives and abortion coverage. This is the same fellow who once referred to half the electorate as bitter clingers obsessed with God and xenophobia thanks to their poverty, and labeled the Tea Party as a terrorist entity.
2. American Exceptionalism Lies In Our Capacity To Change. No, actually, all people are capable of change, if some more so than others. Change may be worthwhile, but that’s not what makes America unique. What makes America exceptional is the foundational principles of individual freedom and limited government enshrined in our founding documents. But Obama said, “So that’s what we mean when we say America is exceptional. Not that our nation has been flawless from the start, but that we have shown the capacity to change, and make life better for those who follow."
3. He Created A Thriving Economy. Obama bragged about “revers[ing] a great recession, reboot[ing] our auto industry, and unleash[ing] the longest stretch of job creation in our history.” Actually, he was responsible for the weakest recovery in American history, he blew out the national debt, and he ensured that trillions of dollars in investment money remained on the sidelines, as well as keeping underemployment at significant highs. ...

In his farewell speech on Tuesday night, Barack Obama once again distorted reality and made outrageous statements.
The most idiotic statement of the night came when Obama made this statement:
For 240 years, our nation’s call to citizenship has given work and purpose to each new generation. It’s what led patriots to choose republic over tyranny, pioneers to trek west, slaves to brave that makeshift railroad to freedom. It’s what pulled immigrants and refugees across oceans and the Rio Grande, it’s what pushed women to reach for the ballot, it’s what powered workers to organize. It’s why GI’s gave their lives at Omaha Beach and Iwo Jima; Iraq and Afghanistan – and why men and women from Selma to Stonewall were prepared to give theirs as well.
The Stonewall riots are regarded as a major event for the LGBT community and took place a gay bar called the Stonewall Inn… And he claimed these events were “our nation’s call to citizenship.” What the hell does that mean? Who writes this nonsense?

I make a game out of listening to Obama's speeches. I promise myself that I will hang in there until I hear the first lie. This speech only took 2 seconds. After hearing "My fellow Americans . . ", I changed the station.

You know, I've gotten to be the same way. Besides Obama and Trump and Hillary, and Pelosi and Reid, et al, I don't even like interviews with politicians I agree with on things.
It seems that all their comments come out of a can, and are all pre-rehearsed.
They're boring and incredibly predictable.

It's human nature for a president to inflate his record. I don't expect him to lay out the real Obama record in his speech. But his delusion is tempered by the fact that in every election after 2008, save 2012, he and his policies cost the Democrats.
