On the contrary, it was his supporters that were in a coma. And even worse, some of the stuff he’s proposing now.

His so-called fantastic economy, for example,  wasn’t as fantastic as his supporters like to pretend. It was good. But it wasn’t “historic”

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/gdp-growth-under-trump-compares-121008953.html

In his first four years in office, Trump has had by far the lowest average U.S. GDP growth rate of any of the last seven U.S. presidents.

Overall, U.S. GDP growth was highest under Clinton and Reagan in this group. GDP growth was lowest under Trump and Obama.

And(pre pandemic)

But recent headlines and new sets of data are raising questions about exactly where the economy is heading as 2020 approaches. Increasingly it looks like the president’s stabilizer is headed for some bumpy times.

To start with, it appears some of the nation’s good economic times have not been as good as we thought they were.

Now he’s proposing more policies that many agree inflationary but the debate is by how much. From Larry Summers, who also accurately predicted Bidenflation would not be transitory

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4601150-summers-trump-term-inflationary-spiral/amp/
Summers explained that Trump’s populist economic policy could also infringe on the Federal Reserve’s independence, risking higher inflation and leading to high spending.

“Look, there’s a model for populism. It’s the way that the way most countries in Latin America have been run most of the time since the Second World War,” he said. “And to put it mildly, it hasn’t been conspicuously economically successful.”

He warned Trump’s policies could lead to hyperinflation, comparing the situation to 1950s Argentina — an economic collapse that led to social unrest.

Although watching the MSNBC commenters having a meltdown on election night should Trump win  would be entertaining, the short term rush would quickly wear off should  Trump get his way economically. Then that would ensure that a Democrat would get elected in 2028 and that person could get a potential eight years. I maintained at the time that if the housing market didn’t crash and take the economy with it at the time it did, Obama wouldn’t have been elected

Choosing not to vote for anyone at the top of the ticket this year isn’t an emotional exercise for some of us. There are some real red flags when it comes to Trump. The argument can’t simply be “Biden sucks” because we all know that.

In order for me to even remotely reconsider, Trump would have to change course and adopt a policy of economic libertarianism combined with fiscal conservatism. So far, I see neither

So far, not one Trumper has disputed any of these points or links happy77

Further evidence of how bad our choices are this year. I, like Larry Summers, agree that a second Trump term will be similar to any South American populist

MAGA reminds me a lot of the socialists. Socialist believe that they can dodge the laws of economics if the right people run it

It sure is a medical procedure whether done on animal s or humans.

No it's not. It's radio-telemetry.

I guess I don't see the difference between the pound and the owner doing it.

@Free Vulcan

Fair point. It seemed that these were 2 dogs working in tandem. From that, I assumed that they were roaming the streets or countryside looking for "trouble." That's why I asked how they were in a position to go after the pet ducks. If the scenario is different from that, please let me know and I'll assess it with the actual facts rather than my assumption.

Regarding Gov. Noem ... upon further examination (and because I was finally able to see a clip of her explaining the situation), I will cut her some slack. She said that she was the 2nd owner of the dog and that it came to her as a troubled dog. I would suggest that she didn't have the ability to redirect the dog from its bad behavior and decided to put it down after the chicken and biting incident. Assuming that all she said is true, my only criticisms of her would be that she took on a project she wasn't equipped to handle and that she wrote about the incident in her book. I would have preferred that she try her best to re-home the dog, but sometimes there just aren't any takers.

US Air Force eyes deadline to launch new command
By Stephen Losey
 May 3, 04:04 PM

The U.S. Air Force wants to have its Integrated Capabilities Command up and running by the end of 2024, the service’s chief of staff told reporters Thursday.

The command is a central pillar of a vast reorganization the service announced in February. This revamp, the service’s largest since the end of the Cold War, is intended to better prepare the Air Force to counter major adversaries such as China and win a high-tech, modern war amid limited funding.

The Air Force has become “fragmented” and built up its capabilities “in chunks at a time,” Gen. David Allvin said at a roundtable. But in an era where the Air Force must prepare for a potential fight against an advanced enemy, he added, the service must take a broader look to prepare for the future.

For example, he said, a siloed approach to modernization could lead one section of the Air Force to focus on updating an outdated capability, even if that capability won’t be relevant to a future fight. By having an Integrated Capabilities Command looking at the big picture, he noted, the service might recognize such an upgrade wouldn’t be worth it.

You can buy ultrasound machines on Amazon without a prescription or license... Putting on a band-aid is a "medical procedure" in your world...

Get some new material --- I've already answered you on this   @Hoodat

You answered with a strawman that had zero connection to the question - a strawman based on a false premise, which was shown to you clearly in my reply:

You're living in a fantasy bubble @Hoodat  ----- and you're starting to believe the outcome of the primary somehow proves RDS had more support than Donald Trump.

Uh, no.  There is nothing I have posted that even remotely suggests this.  You made it up.  It is solely your invention.

Correcting this group think with the actual outcome is not "bashing" Ron DeSantis ---- it's bashing a disturbing level of near insanity.

RDS lost.  He knows he lost.  His donors know he lost. ---- Believe it, embrace it and move on.

Hysterical.  DeSantis supporters moved on long ago.  It's you that still feels compelled to continue taking pot shots at him long after he's exited the race.  Maybe you are the one who should move on.  Ever consider that?

My responses to you stand.  Every single one of them.

:bkmk:

???? So if the CIC has the Constitutional powers over the military how can the military brass revoke those powers?

What am I missing here or not understanding???

They can't.  It was highly unlawful to refuse to pass down orders from the CiC, and that's exactly what they did.  I didn't trust the Military in that regards since 1/20/17.  There was plenty of scuttlebutt going around back then when it was implied by many at the Pentagon, that Trump's commands were not absolute.  That they would intervene to be a check on Trump, who they were insisting at the time that stupid Trump would walk us straight into WWIII.

They broke the chain of command to "save the world from Trump!"

This is the level of insubordination we're dealing with here.

Navy slow to adopt modern ship-designing tools, GAO finds
The service is getting in the way of shipbuilders who want to go digital, the watchdog said.
PATRICK TUCKER | MAY 3, 2024 05:13 PM ET
NAVY INDUSTRY C4ISR

One reason the U.S. Navy is behind on its shipbuilding goals is that it’s been slow to embrace the kinds of digital-design tools that have revolutionized the process of building commercial ships and military aircraft, the Government Accountability Office says in a new report.

Such tools—3-D modeling, digital twinning—have helped the Air Force fast-track the design, prototyping, and experimentation of new platforms.

“Navy shipbuilders’ use of these tools remains more limited overall than what we found for commercial builders,” the GAO wrote in “Navy Shipbuilding: Increased Use of Leading Design Practices Could Improve Timeliness of Deliveries,” which was released on Thursday.

It’s not a small issue. The United States will be heavily reliant on new ships to deter China from attacking Taiwan or other countries in the Pacific. But China right now has a larger Navy with more than 370 platforms and “is expected to grow to 395 ships by 2025 and 435 ships by 2030,” according to the Defense Department. The U.S. Navy, by comparison, expects to maintain its fleet of around 290 battle force ships through 2030.
