This is neither shooting sports nor 2nd Amendment, but I hope it's okay...

Czech parliament moves to legalise firearm ownership
29 June 2017

The lower house of the Czech parliament has agreed to alter the constitution so that firearms can be held legally when national security is threatened.

The amendment gives Czechs the right to use firearms during terrorist attacks.

It was passed by the lower house by a big majority, and is likewise expected to be approved by the upper house.

The move by parliament is a challenge to EU gun control rules which restrict civilians from possessing certain kinds of semi-automatic weapons.

The EU argues its move is a much-needed counter-terrorism measure.

But the Czech parliament took a different view, arguing that allowing people to bear arms enables them to defend themselves against terrorism.

...

The European Commission agreed tougher gun control rules in December - they were approved by EU interior ministers four months later in spite of objections from the Czech Republic, Luxembourg and Poland.

If it is not legal until it reaches that point, it is too late.

Czech Republic makes some really nice handguns...no reason why the citizens of that country can't enjoy them as well.

And besides...lets be honest...with the influx of Muslims into Europe...and the threat of Russia on it's doorstep...it's wise to take steps to ensure the country's citizens are armed as well.

Clever wordsmithing there.  And yes, it is a fine system.  A well-armed citizenry is the best check and balance you can have against government tyranny.

My ex boss/bf/roommate, etc. has a Czech that I would love to own.  He let me use it when we went through CCH testing.  It has been well broken in and I hit the target 90+% of the time with it.... vs. missing most when I use my Taurus PT-111, which has never been properly broken in.

I'm just happy to see some pushback to the whole submission thing. And yes, the Czechs do make some nice arms.

I'd like to try one of these:

The CZ 75 is a really accurate weapon that the Czech military folks designed and their Russian overlords at the tim wouldn't let them patent for export.  Italian gun maker Tanfoglio started making copies of the gun and selling them...then a company called EAA became the importer of them to the states.

You can get the EAA model known as the Witness at places like Rural King for $279.
