Can you imagine? Sometimes I think Maher says the things he does just for the publicity and to get people to tune in in hopes of hearing his latest inanities. I mean, seriously, nobody, not even Maher, can be this stupid, but I guess that is debatable.
BILL MAHER: Dr. Alexander isn't even the only brilliant brain surgeon who's also a drooling idiot. Dr. Ben Carson is the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins and the first doctor to separate conjoined twins at the head. And he believes the earth is 6,000 years old, and that homosexuality is akin to beasteality, and that the Bible calls for a flat fax. He's half brilliant brain surgeon, half Tea Party dumbass. He doesn't just operate on conjoined twins, he is one.
He's also someone who many Republicans are encouraging to run for president in 2016, and why not? There's no more attractive figure in the Republican Party these days than an anti-intellectual with an advanced degree. People like Antonin Scalia, Ted Cruz, and Bobby Jindal who are accomplished scholars on the outside, and on the inside a creamy layer of Michelle Bachmann.

So this is the new strategy.
To the machine, there is only one rational, logical way of thinking, and everyone else is an anti-intellectual moron. They couldn't get away with the vulgar slur used against the Tea Party, so they now have gone to insulting their intelligence.
Oh, and don't think I didn't notice that "inside is a creamy layer" jab, especially in regard to Jindal and Carson... it's just the old Oreo slur: dark on the outside, white on the inside, a slur blacks use against those who stray from the cultural orthodoxy.

The international Left has employed this perfidious strategy since the French Revolution: don't just oppose your adversaries, dehumanize them. Mockery and ridicule are potent tools, as Professor Alinsky well knew. They infuriate and provoke, generating emotional responses that can then be adduced as evidence of ill will and evil intent.
One of the hardest things to do in the face of such calculated provocation is to maintain one's temperament. I often find it damned near impossible, especially when people of notably poor character (such as Maher) invoke false accusations of hatred and violent intent against the most decent and upright among us.
What makes it doubly difficult is the knowledge that those who employ such dishonesty feel no shame and are incapable of disgrace in our morally bankrupt public culture.
