Trump and DeSantis meet privately in Florida

Josh Dawsey  |  April 28, 2024 at 1:16 p.m. EDT

Former president Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis met privately Sunday morning in Miami, according to people familiar with the matter, breaking a years-long chill between the presumptive Republican nominee and his onetime chief primary rival.

Allies brokered the meeting in hopes of a potential détente between the two men, and Trump’s advisers hope DeSantis will tap his donor network to help raise significant sums of money for the general election, the people familiar with the matter said. Like others interviewed for this story, the people spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private deliberations.

The pair met for several hours and DeSantis agreed to help Trump. The meeting was friendly, according to a person with direct knowledge.

Trump and allied groups have lagged behind President Biden and his allies in the money chase. DeSantis has built a wide network of wealthy patrons whose assistance would be valuable in helping Trump try to close the gap, and is popular with some Republican voters who are exhausted by Trump.  .  .

.  .  .  During the Republican primary, Trump told advisers he wanted to hurt DeSantis for 2028, too. But he has moved his focus on to Biden and his criminal trial in recent weeks, and Trump allies say he would favorably view DeSantis raising money for him.  .  .  .

So either DeSantis kisses butt or Trump will promise to dump on him in 4 years.

A large part of America love their dogs.  This puts her in the same position as idiot Romney, who placed his dog in a kennel on the roof of his car, which was considered cruel.  However, I bet the dog loved it, for dogs do love air rushing into their faces as evidenced by how they love to hang their head out an open window while driving down the road.

She would have made a better running mate for Romney, but not Trump.  She is out.  In fact, she would have quite a few voting for RFK Jr.  There was a fellow on the news today indicating he thought RFK Jr. would adversely affect Trump more than Biden.  Not the kind of thing one wants to hear!!!

Judging by the article it appear the Trump is wanting $$ and hoping to tap some of DeSantis' donors with his help.

I definitely don't see that as DeSantis trying to position himself for '28 or the VP slot.  DeSantis as VP - No.  Definitely not!!

Is their "continuing on" our responsibility to fund? @libertybele   Do we ever reach the point where we simply say "we're out ---- good luck with the occupation and wars?

No, it is not our responsibility to fund their war.  Nor is it our responsibility to fund Ukraine.  IMHO, we need to say enough is enough and take care of things on the home front @Right_in_Virginia

We don't mention Sophie enough here, but she seems really nice and genuine.

Duchess of Edinburgh: Sophie becomes first member of Royal Family to visit Ukraine since Russia's invasion

Quote

The Duchess of Edinburgh has become the first member of the Royal Family to visit Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022.

Sophie's trip was to "demonstrate solidarity with the women, men and children impacted by the war", said Buckingham Palace.

The palace also said it was a continuation of her work to champion survivors of conflict-related sexual violence.

The duchess, 59, met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the first lady Olena Zelenska.

Yep...my Conservative vote doesn't matter whatsoever.

But to see it happen in wealthy Montgomery County is astounding nevertheless.

You need to take the time to read this David.

No U.S. interference would be nice, but does Israel have the funds to continue on without U.S. aid?
