Very few names I recognize.  I'm surprised my rep didn't vote for it since he's been against the shutdown since day 1.  However, he knows he would be voted out in a heartbeat if he back this bill.

I say it's time for those who still stand for something to call for a vote of no confidence in Boehner and remove him from the Speakership.

My Congressman, or more correctly the guy who supposedly represents the district I live in, is on there. I am not surprised.

Backroom deals and lack of a spine.

By: cjd87 (Diary)  |  October 16th, 2013 at 01:27 PM  |  4

RESIZE: AAA

It was announced today that the complete surrender of the GOP is in the works. McConnell got with Reid and gave away the farm, while Boehner is making sure that the House passes the bill with Dem votes first to prevent a filibuster from Ted Cruz and Mike Lee. If you think this wasn’t always the plan you’ve lost your mind.

For those of you wondering what capitulation means here ya go:

ca·pit·u·la·tion

kəˌpiCHəˈlāSHən/

noun

noun: capitulation; plural noun: capitulations

    1.

the action of surrendering or ceasing to resist an opponent or demand.

“the victor sees it as a sign of capitulation”

        historical

an agreement or set of conditions.

        See also Republican Leadership

It was fun while it lasted but now we can rest assured that Obama and Reid got everything they wanted while we get shafted once again by the party “leadership”.

Ted Cruz and Mike Lee forced the GOP hand and gave them a platform to make sure that the train wreck that is Obamacare could be stopped. The problem is and always was that the “leadership” never wanted the fight and had no stomach to make the fight work.

The problem is that Harry Reid got to see the Republican hand before the cards were even dealt. He knew they would never have the spine to force this until he caved. He knew he would never be called on his tactics of never bringing up any of the 14 appropriations bills passed by the House according to law to fund the government. Because of that we are where we are.

The only solace I can take out of this is that John Boehner will probably not be Speaker if the GOP holds the House. Of course that doesn’t help us now. After Jan 1 the subsidies will start flowing and after that good luck convincing people they would be better off not getting that “free money” from the Government.

According to the Washington Times this was an embarrassment.

For Republicans, the deal was more about getting an embarrassing couple of weeks behind them than in being able to claim victory in a deal that they felt compelled to make.

The sad part is that it is true. The last two weeks have been an embarrassment for the Republican party. Not however for Conservatism. Let me explain. See I was raised to believe that if you try to worry about what everyone thinks about you then you will never be willing to fight for anything.

Quote
That ladies and gentlemen is the problem with the Republican party “leadership”. They actually care what people think about them. Except they care about what the wrong people think about them.

Anyone else ready for that 3rd Party yet? I know I am.

Note to the GOP, do not ever ask me for a dime. Do not send me mailers, do not advertise to me. You are officially dead to me and I will make sure that everyone who votes for this failure is removed from office.

The 87 sellouts:

I'm Shocked!  Shocked I say!

This has been the most unspectacularly predictable turn of events.  Where is that picture of Lucy and the football...I can almost hear the mighty "Wuuaaaaaaaggghhh!"  But it's not the GOPe acting as Lucy.  It's Obama saying "Whose your Daddy?"  I know it's disappointing to have reality slap me in the face.  I feel your pain.  But let us admit there was no grass roots uprising.  There have been no Tea Party protests bigger than a bring your own dish to pass pot luck gathering.  The American people are against us.

Those congressmen you listed are the GOPs vulnerable seats mostly.  Those Congressmen could be replaced with rats next year.  Does anyone believe it is possible these congressmen listened to their constituents, and they maybe believe they have a responsibility to the people who voted for them to represent their wishes?  maybe? :dx1:  They might even believe it is their constitutional duty. :patriot:

My rat congressman Tammy Baldwin voted for the deal.  She says her constituents told her to compromise and vote that way.  at least that is what my Magic 8 Ball tells me.  "It is decidedly so."  I don't think any rat voted against the deal.

My congressman voted AGAINST the deal.  Problem is, never know what he'll do next.
Ran as a conservative to cut spending.  Fund raised with Cantor.  Has not cut a cent I know of.  Roll of the dice with this guy.  What to do in 2014?

Almost better to have a dem there--at least we know EXACTLY what we got.

I couldn't disagree with you more.  Why would you want someone you know will reject your views and vote against your wishes rather than be pleasantly surprised sometimes?  Being represented by a socialist lesbian has been no joy I assure you.

Rooting for rats is all the rage these days  I might have to try it sometime.  Since the GOPe appears to be impeding a conservative take over of the GOP some have suggested a 3rd party as the way to go, but perhaps the solution is a conservative take over of the rat party.

maybe not.
I need a winking emoticon.
Nice to hear from you famous.

Maybe I should rephrase.  Why is it out of the mainstream to expect a Republican to hold to the set of principles he promised to promote?  Instead we get a guy who rolls with the polls.  Crap shoot--every issue.

For me I didn't expect the GOP to hold to the set of principles they promised to promote because of history.  Since the advent of polling to determine the views of the voters both parties have usually compromised their principles in the face of public disapproval.  It is why McCain and Obama could not proceed with action against Syria.  The last time I remember a party ignoring the will of the people completely was Obamacare and the rats paid a heavy price in 2010.  Prior to Obamacare I'm having trouble coming up with another.  Do you recall a time in modern history where either party has not caved to overwhelming public disapproval?

I hate to bad mouth Reagan because I think he was one of the top 5 US Presidents of all time, but since he is the conservative gold standard...Do you think Reagan compromised his principles just a little by signing all those budgets?  As I recall he promise to reduce the deficit and national debt.

I used to like Grimm - actually quite a lot.  But I listened to him on Fox News Sunday two weeks ago totally trashing the Tea Party and he turned me off like a faucet.

It seems like all the NYC GOP'ers are running away from the Tea Party as fast as they can. Joe Lhota, who is the GOP nominee for mayor, has been stumbling all over himself trying to avoid being stuck with the Tea Party label, all while the veritable socialist DeBlasio continues to villify the Tea Party.

Is it any wonder why the whole third-party talk has been spiking lately? Democrats attack the Tea Party, and Republicans attack the Tea Party. No wonder all the third-party types keep saying they're all the same.

The Tea Party scares both parties because they are upending the status quo in DC and there is nothing the GOP and the Democrats like more than the status quo.

This talk of "scaring" is hilarious.  Sarah Palin "makes them quake with fear."  Ted Cruz "scares the GOPe to death."

Now the Tea Party is supposedly frightening everybody.

That's nonsense.  Nobody's scared of the Tea Party, not after this fiasco and not after the bozos they've put up for Senate the last two cycles.

If the Tea Party decides it's going to oppose everybody in Washington, it will be frozen out completely.

How many Libertarians have any influence?

Until someone explains how one of my posts critical of Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin just coincidentally disappears, I'll apologize to no one. And that's especially true since the moderators around here seem to be itching to edit my posts.

Never mind this same thing happened just yesterday on another thread - the difference being THAT poster didn't pitch a hissy fit... it is a glich in the software here.. and no I would not reply to a post that I deleted - you are correct.  But then you actually use logic in your thinking.

Okay, now that I joked about it, a thoughtful comment.

I think all parties' emotions were on slow boil for some time and finally it erupted in an ill considered comment. That's all. I don't think anyone really needs an invitation to join a discussion. At least I hope not.
