The hub, due to open in ten days, will host conferences and seminars alongside a nursery and Arabic school. It will open to men on Fridays and women on Saturdays.

Broadcaster Alan Dein said: 'I'm so pleased that this Grade II listed building will not sit empty.'

Golders Green is a predominantly Jewish area and hosts the largest Kosher food hub in the UK.

The Hippodrome was designed by renowned theatre architect Bertie Crewe and opened in 1913 as a 3,000 seat music hall.

After a stage was installed the capacity halved, and it became a favourite location for acts performing in the West End and held an annual pantomime.

Princess Margaret visited on December 8 1953 to see a performance of Ralph Readers' 'Gang show', which was celebrating its 21st anniversary.

She was presented with a bouquet by Senior Scout Robert Corp, a 16-year-old from Holloway, upon her arrival.


The BBC took it over in 1969, taking out a long leasehold to 2060.
