Johnson’s Trump trip unsettles some Republicans: ‘Tell me this isn’t so’
by Mychael Schnell and Mike Lillis - 05/18/24 6:00 AM ET

Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) decision to appear this week at former President Trump’s hush money trial in Manhattan is sparking new blowback from some House Republicans, who are questioning why he would inject himself so prominently in a case involving an alleged affair with a porn star.

These Republicans, who requested to speak anonymously to discuss the sensitive topic, are accusing Johnson — a devout Southern Baptist who built a career around the fight for Christian values and moral conservatism — of undermining the party’s family values image simply to ingratiate himself with Trump, the party’s presumptive presidential nominee.

“It’s clear that Johnson thinks that this is to his political advantage to be at the courthouse at the most salacious bits of detailed, pornographic testimony. I think he’s got to answer for that,” one House Republican told The Hill.

“It seems like an odd place for him to be given what he has said.”

In one sense, there’s little surprise in Johnson’s visit to New York this week.

Where did they get the 500 million trees @banddag ???

And where did they get the land to plant 500 million trees?  What do you figure?  One hundred trees per acre?  That comes to over 7,800 square miles of land.  That's over one-third of the total arable land mass of Scotland.

Senate GOP looks to Trump to keep hold of House majority
by Al Weaver - 05/18/24 12:00 PM ET

Senate Republicans believe the party’s chances of retaining its slim House majority will sink or swim with former President Trump in November as Democrats remain cautiously bullish of winning back the chamber despite chaos in the House GOP conference over the past year.

Republican lawmakers have oozed confidence for months about the potential of winning back the Senate in 2024, but the House is an entirely different matter. Members indicated that they see it as a true toss-up, with Trump being the determinative factor for better or worse.

“It depends on if Donald Trump wins,” said Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), a former House member. “The House is so tied to national waves and political cycles. If Donald Trump wins it’s hard for me to imagine Republicans losing the House.”

“If Donald Trump doesn’t win, I think we could very well win the Senate and lose the House,” he added.

With less than six months to go until Election Day, the battle for the House is on a razor’s edge. No matter what party emerges as victorious, a Democratic or Republican majority stands to have another thin margin to deal with heading into the 119th Congress.

Where did they get the 500 million trees @banddag ???

lol....good catch.  I know that our normal pine farming suggests 100 trees per acre.  And pines are very vertically configured.  So that should almost be a worst case.

So beandog's imagery forest should take up about 5 million acres.

One square mile = 640 acres

5 million acres divided by 640 acres equals 7,812 square miles.  The entire Country of Scotland is 30,090 square miles.  And since the Highlands makes up conservatively roughly 60% of Scotland, and not condusive to forest growth.  beandog is claiming that roughly 60-70% of Lowland Scotland has been replanted with trees.  Amazing?  And where did they get the manpower to do that?

His bullshit has gotten so deep, I think we need to get the Mods to bring out the Firehoses to save him.
