President Donald Trump warned Republicans Friday morning to fall in line behind last-ditch legislation in the Senate to repeal and replace Obamacare, writing online that any GOP lawmaker who votes against the bill will be remembered as "the Republican who saved Obamacare."
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), one of the repeal-and-replace bill’s loudest opponents in the Senate, was singled out by the president’s Friday morning warning.
“Rand Paul, or whoever votes against Hcare Bill, will forever (future political campaigns) be known as ‘the Republican who saved ObamaCare,’” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Wow. Trump....making threats via Twitter. How unusual. (</endsarc>)
It's a damn shame. We'd have such a different picture of Trump if he had never tweeted. Talk about being your own worst enemy.
Art of the Deal: How Trump Pushed Congress To Revisit Eliminating Obamacare
DCWhispers, Sep 18, 2017
<snip>
Senator Cassidy stated that an informal voted count, even before any real pressure to gather votes has started, showed the bill is already just a few shy of passage.
And it all was initiated by POTUS Trump.
Cassidy and Graham were said to be both startled at the levels of voter animosity they were receiving in their (southern) states for the lack of support being given by Congress to the Trump agenda. They soon discovered their concerns were shared as other Republicans shared similar stories of voter unrest. These unhappy voters remained steadfast in their support of Trump and placed the blame of legislative inactivity squarely on the shoulders of Republicans in Congress. The promise to do something about Obamacare had been broken and voters indicated they would remember that failed promise come the Midterm Elections.
Trump then made a very public pivot toward Democrat leadership which angered Establishment Republicans who felt they were being shut out. This anger turned to fear, though, as feedback from voters in their respective states made clear it wouldn’t be Trump who paid a price, but them.
Suddenly, Republicans were literally begging Trump to support their legislation.
Meanwhile, Mr. Trump remains focused on a tax overhaul and his White House staffers are now coordinating a possible one-two legislative knockout punch that would have him signing legislation to repeal Obamacare and slash taxes.
More healthcare choices. Lower taxes. A stronger economy.
As the war in Washington wages on, Team Trump is poised to win some very critical battles as he unleashes some Art of the Deal mastery over the political roadblock known as Congress.

What repeal? If republicans can just win dog catcher in a few more states they will have the strength in numbers to offer real and extremely modest incremental change to Obamacare. They just don't have the votes yet. What did you expect them to accomplish with just the White House, and majorities in US House, US Senate, Governors, state legislatures, and state legislators? The crap they promised? :silly:
What repeal?

I know Rand Paul and I think he may find a way to get there for the good of the Party!

Yeah, more like Obamacare TRIM. What ever you want to call it, it is NOT Repeal
Yeah, more like Obamacare TRIM. What ever you want to call it, it is NOT Repeal
It isn't even really a trim. The 'block grant' section is adding a huge extra layer of bureaucracy in it and complicates the matter more. It isn't actually returning the matter to the States, it is making the States just beggars for more federal dollars taken from taxpayers, and squeezed through layers of bureaucrats.
Exactly. It's just more DC corruption via the power of "pay for play" bribes. DC: You play ball with us (vote our way) and you get more taxpayer $$$s in your ""block grant"". Just more swamp water added.
It will become the newest version of Highway funding- something to hold hostage by whatever party is in power against States who don't participate in their latest social engineering experiment.
Imagine how this State block grant funding for healthcare will go when and if the Democrats are in power.
Does Trump even know what's in this bill? Has he read it?
He is desperate for congress to pass something -- anything -- so he can sign it, then declare he kept his promise to the voters to repeal Obamacare.

In my opinion Trump’s tweeting make this president seem more accessible to the average person. We feel we have something in common with him, because everyone is using social media today. So why not the president? I think he’s helping to democratize the presidency, as we get to read what the president is thinking on a particular issue before that issue comes to resolution.
I also think it makes him a more effective force as he works to move his agenda forward. Think of it as a modern day adaptation of the bully pulpit.
I support the President.
Put up or shut up, conservatives. This is a good bill, that advances the goals and priorities conservatives should care about. It advances the cause of freer markets and federalism.
If, not, Mr. President, cut the best deal you can with the centrists. This ain't no god-damn game. It's about working folks, and the anxiety they're up against. A pox on Rand Paul. Your own governor supports this bill - don't be a brain-dead fool.

You do not get to tell us what we want, what we should have or that we have to support a bill because YOU want us to.
This voter is tired of deals, bipartisanship and compromise. For 8 years I have watched Republicans try to get along with Democrats and end up selling us down the river. No more deals. No more compromise. No more bipartisanship.
I don't care which governor, politician, celebrity or anyone else supports this bill. The voters were promised REPEAL. This voter wants what was promised. This bill is not REPEAL.
If you cared about working people, you would not support this bill. This bill does nothing for them.
