US officially rejoins Paris climate agreement
By Rachel Frazin - 02/19/21 09:51 AM EST

The U.S. on Friday officially rejoined the Paris Agreement after former President Trump withdrew from the deal.

On his first day in office, President Biden signed an executive order that set the country on track to rejoin the global accord, but it took 30 days for the country to formally reenter.

Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry stressed at an event on Friday that there is still more work to be done.

Mr. Trump made a strategic mistake of not bringing this before the Senate during his first two years, so it could be voted down permanently.

If the Americans had any standing in the legislature of the United States, their representatives would challenge that EO in court and demand that the treaty be ratified before it had any material effect on US policy.

Too bad there aren't more than a small handful of Americans in the Senate.
