Post by: Gefn on February 08, 2021, 04:26:45 pm
Texas Republican Rep. Ron Wright became the first member of Congress to die of COVID-19.

The Dallas Morning News reported his death Monday morning.

Wright had also been battling lung cancer.

'Congressman Wright will be remembered as a constitutional conservative. He was a statesman, not an ideologue,' said a statement from Wright's office.

Dallas Morning News?

Might the true cause of death be Lung Cancer, and COVID-19 contributory?
So unless the family discloses the death certificate, we might not know for the 25 year Texas Vital Death Record confidentiality requirement.

Our inflexible simplistic current system only recognizes Covid and non-Covid deaths (and even then it is gamed). Reality is less simple. Covid can of itself kill, through the pneumonia it causes. The complexity our system ignores is situations like this one (probably), in which Covid pushes over the cliff someone with a serious pre-existing condition. It's an imprecision whose usage makes it dishonest.

I suspect, without evidence, that some European countries Covid death rates reflect taking into account, in some way, pre-existing conditions.
