Throwing the baby out and keeping the bathwater, at NOAA

NOAA’s CO-OPS TidesAndCurrents “Sea Level Trends” website is shutting down tomorrow
They’re replacing it with a new “Sea Level Trends and Extremes – BETA site,” which lacks the core functionality of the old site.
This is NOAA’s “Sea Level Trends” webpage for Honolulu:
https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/sltrends/sltrends_station.shtml?id=8418150But this is what you’ll see if you visit it today:

https://sealevel.info/NOAA_shutting_down_tidesandcurrents_site_after_2026-09-30_Honolulu.pngFor years I’ve praised the work of NOAA’s CO-OPS (Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services) “Tides and Currents” team, saying things like this (at WUWT and elsewhere):
I’ve closely examined NOAA’s sea-level trend analyses for many individual tide gauges, by their “tides and currents” (CO-OPS) group, and I’ve seen no evidence of anything other than good work by competent oceanographers. E.g., here’s their graph and linear regression for Honolulu:
https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/sltrends/sltrends_station.shtml?id=1612340Lots of the material from NOAA, these days, is blatant climate alarmism propaganda, often written by “climate communicators” rather than scientists. But the trend analyses that they did for hundreds of coastal measurement sites were excellent. So I guess that it shouldn’t surprise me that, in these hyper-politicized times, that’s the part of their site that they are removing.
The new site does not have the functionality of the old one. For instance, here’s Portland, ME:
