No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Sumpin' tells me that this may NOT have been "botched".
It was deliberately sabotaged.

Didn't I read somewhere above that this woman wanted an "all-female" execution team?
Well, sounds like this bunch o' gals were as competent in their work as were those on the clancy jury.

Advice to Tennessee:
NEXT TIME, use one of these:

Guaranteed to do the job, with no pain to the occupant inside, as well.

There are states that have used that method of execution.  They pump nitrogen in to replace the air, and the subject is asphyxiated from the lack of O2.  Nitrogen is used because the subject can't tell something is amiss, which would happen if they used CO2.
Speech from the right = Violence
Violence from the left = Speech
I will NOT comply.

Perhaps the law should provide that they sedate the convict with propofol and then hit 'em with potassium chloride. It would take less than a minute, no suffering.

A .45 slug behind the ear would accomplish the same result.   :smokin:

I just read that she’s on life support.

WTF?

Doesn’t that mean gang the execution was a success, albeit a bit delayed?

Pull the plug and all is well.

Pull the plug...just saying...
Yep.

Why get her 'healthy' to try again?

BTW, the phenobarbitol that was supposed to go into a vein likely was injected intramuscularly, which will slow its release into the system. I'm no expert, but t shouldn't be that hard to tell whether the IV shunt was in a vein--junkies do it all the time with needles and bugger-all for training.

So someone tell me how Canada and certain countries in Europe can so reliably kill people who didn't even do anything wrong? We should just hire some of their people.

BTW we should also refer to capital punishment as "euthanasia" for the progressive fuzzies.

Is simply letting her die without the same measures that would be prohibited by a DNR euthanasia, or simply letting nature (at this point) take its course?

Unless this was done intentionally, to disperse the medication into muscle to prevent lethal effects (by slowing absorption), trying to get her a pardon or commuted sentence.

If so, did those geniuses ever think it might end up the way she is now: alive but quite possibly brain dead? Even if her sentence is commuted, she still may be in a vegetative state until her heart stops beating. That seems kind of cruel.

The court ordered her execution, and that order has not been carried out.
