How much climate angst is propped up by China or is even a Cold War weapon of statecraft?

Potentially, fifty years from now people may look back and marvel at how easily (and cheaply) China could wind up the Western liberals, and how they got away with it.

We may wonder how it was not obvious that the world was caught in a covert Cold War. We don’t have all the receipts to say that now, and may never get them, but we have the method, the motive, and the opportunity.

As I keep saying, there are so many advantages to China it would be crazy if it weren’t manipulating the West to sabotage our own success. But Peter Doran and Brenda Shaffer have taken that further and written a very classy feature in Tablet.

They followed the money as far as they could, but many of the dollars vanish in a swamp of collected philanthropic funds which earnestly profess their angst and indignation against Western carbon emitters but somehow cheer on China even though it accounts for 93% of all new coal constructions on Earth. A funny coincidence…

Back in the era of Earth Day, some select environmental groups were funded by the KGB for the purpose of hampering Western Industry. Maybe the Chinese have seen the utility of using our own system against us like the Soviets did, but this has been going on for  a long time. Moving target regulations have done more damage to our industrial economy, and some of that money found its way into campaign coffers. Much was donated after media campaigns to push the notion, and Algore's grand climate scam stood to make trillions in carbon credit markets.
There was plenty to go around, and it has stopped pipelines, power plants, shut down foundries and factories across the US, moving our industry offshore.

Best money those bastards ever spent, as far as they are concerned.
