There have already been investigations into October 7. The IDF has conducted and published multiple inquiries, and the State Comptroller has conducted investigations into failures surrounding October 7 as well. That work has been extensive and is ongoing.
The military and civilian security agency performed their individual investigations. But, much of the findings have not been published at the request of the Netanyahu administration because, you know, because of the war and everything.
What Netanyahu is blocking is what needs most to happen: an independent inquiry where the agenda and witness selection is set by the independent Commission, not the Prime Minister. This commission would present findings that integrate the information from the military, security and political branches --- forming a type of 360° panorama of what did and did not happen leading to, during and right after the attack.
Israel's highest investigative authority is an independent state commission of inquiry typically led by a retired Supreme Court judge. Netanyahu has continued to resist calls from survivors, bereaved families, and former security chiefs to set up such a panel, arguing instead that a court-appointed body would be biased against his government and favoring a political or lawmaker-appointed panel instead.(he and his administration)
Critics, opposition politicians, and former intelligence officials— including former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar—have accused Netanyahu of personally blocking or delaying the probe to evade personal accountability for the security lapses. So do "regular" Israeli citizens.
So the claim that Netanyahu is “blocking an investigation” is wrong. He is not blocking Israel from investigating October 7.
No, it's not wrong. See my previous post 🔼
The High Court just postponed its decision on that question until after the October 27 election and gave the government until January 15, 2027, to report how it intends to investigate the October 7 failures.
Yes, I know. And, I'm furious Netanyahu won this battle and can continue to block (postpone) this sweeping, independent inquiry until after the election --- when it is a central question in the election and an open wound for the Israeli citizen, including those now living abroad.
There is also a political reality here. Much of the pressure for this particular commission is coming from Netanyahu's political opponents, who have made it a major political issue. Families of victims and others are also demanding it.
Of course politics comes into play, especially the closer we get to Oct 27. But, the people have been demanding this independent inquiry for three years, loudly and persistently. Netanyahu continues to run from this ---
And then there are the claims that Netanyahu **knew** about October 7 beforehand. That's where the rhetoric really outruns the evidence. There are reports alleging that Egyptian and UAE officials warned Netanyahu before the attack. Netanyahu denies receiving those warnings.
There's no doubt Netanyahu received warnings from Egypt and the UAE, --- they did not want the neighborhood dragged into another war as collateral damage. Shin Bet and the IDF warned both in writing and at meetings for more than a year that an attack was coming. Hell, they could hear the tunnels being built and extended (IDF named it the Gaza Metro) and using a $10 pair of binoculars they could watch Hamas military training in real time.
Netanyahu didn't know the time and day, but he knew something was coming. In late Sep 2023, he authorized another payment from Qatar to Hamas, as was recommended. Mossad agents delivered it.
Netanyahu was so sure this payment would soothe the Hamas beast, he moved several IDF units from the Gaza border to the West Bank right before the attack --- leaving swaths of Israeli territory vulnerable and the people on their own.
It seems to me that for someone so interested in the “truth,” you keep posting all kinds of lies.
Wow. Had I read this 🔼 first, my entire response would have been "GFY". But, too late now.

So, I'll just leave the full post here. Others passing through may find it interesting.
But, to quote you from the other evening: "We're done". This time, make it so.
