I would imagine this is in response to the gripes by the CBC about Conyers going out so fast...and they have pics of Franken. Failure to treat this eruption with some racial parity would maybe result in Black Democrats wandering from the Plantation, and the Dems can't have that.

Even Franken is happy....

Putting this out there.......
I will bet a dollar that Al ain't going to resign tomorrow. Just a feeling I have knowing what type of delusional garbage he is.

We shall see.

Yeah, Frankentwitter told MPR to fix their original report, saying no final decision has been made.

Me too. I've had that feeling all day.
My thoughts have been that the DNC released to the press the idea that he was going to resign to pressure him. I doubt that press release actually came from him.
Tomorrow, he's going to apologize and cry and declare how much he regrets what he has done, and how much he respects women and yada, yada, yada.
But when it is all over, he will not resign.
-
Yeah, Frankentwitter told MPR to fix their original report, saying no final decision has been made.
If he felt compelled to make that last presser a shitshow and refused to resign, I doub't anything will get him out of office. Fact is he has been a failure at everything he has done. He doesn't have anything left except for this gig. Leaving it in disgrace isn't an option for him.

That's not fair.
Either way, you win.

LOL. Absolutely.

Tomorrow, he's going to apologize and cry and declare how much he regrets what he has done, and how much he respects women and yada, yada, yada.
Which is funny, because earlier this year, he released a 400 page confessional about how completely un-sorry he's been, since becoming Senator.
“Al Franken, Giant of the Senate†is, in part, the story of how Franken became a giant phony — how he pretended to be a serious person in public even as his inner comic monologue never stopped running. He recalls that during the 2008 campaign, he was attacked for such transgressions as a late-night writers’-room joke about raping Lesley Stahl, and a 2000 Playboy article entitled “Porn-o-Rama.†Franken didn’t think he should have to apologize for the cracks, which his opponents were taking out of context. “To say I was sorry for writing a joke was to sell out my career, to sell out who I’d been my entire life,†he writes. “And I wasn’t sorry that I had written Porn-o-Rama or pitched that stupid Lesley Stahl joke at 2 in the morning. I was just doing my job.â€
But as the attacks caused Franken to bleed support from women voters, he saw that his explanations weren’t working. “I learned that campaigns have their own rules, their own laws of physics, and that if I wasn’t willing to accept that, I would never get to be a senator.†And so Franken took a deep breath and told a little white lie: “I’m sorry.â€

Exactly what I was thinking. I believe he will go sumpin' like, " I considered resigning but felt I owed it to the people who elected me to stay on and fight for them."
"
-
If he doesn’t the Congressional Black Circus will draw up their lynch mobs to go after him.

He won't and they will.
It will be fun to watch.
-

"
That is exactly what Pelosi said. When she was asked to give up the speakership she said, 'I would, but it is my duty to stay and to fight for women.'
That, "It is my duty to stay and fight for the people" thing they do, seems to be a Democrat coverall excuse for never leaving office no matter what.

Seriously? Are you satisfied that a mere charge of any definition of sexual harassment can cost someone their job? Would you think this might necessitate an investigation and an opportunity to confront your accusers?? @IsailedawayfromFR

Why the attack? All I did was ask what is the precedent.
From your diatribe, it seems you know something, but are not yet revealing exactly what is on your mind.
Come on, tell us what the precedent is.
Then I will tell you how it has already been set.

Whats the message here - if their pervert stays our pervert stays? Not implying guilt or innocence of anyone here but how will the party of women (and all other oppressed) be able to pull that off?

You never answered the question I had that is 'What precedent was set?'
What is it?
PS - I am not the Pope asking.

Yeah. Unsubstantiated charge.....
It's more than Franken ... who, BTW, hasn't resigned.
If you guys are okay with this building into a frenzy .... heck, I'll stand down.

I agree with @Right_in_Virginia. Despite what we think of Franken and his politics, this does set a bad precedent.
I can’t believe some can’t see this

Will you publicly release the papers when the audit is done?

I agree with @Right_in_Virginia. Despite what we think of Franken and his politics, this does set a bad precedent.

Since he refuses to say what that precedent is, can you spell it out succinctly so I can understand?

Seriously? Are you satisfied that a mere charge of any definition of sexual harassment can cost someone their job? Would you think this might necessitate an investigation and an opportunity to confront your accusers?? @IsailedawayfromFR
Not if the accused pleads guilty as this POS did!

I see it. We all have seen it. We have seen Al grabbing Tweeden's boobs. What more do you need?

Yes.....unless I decide to run for President in 2024. In that case I will keep them private.
-
Whats the message here - if their pervert stays our pervert stays? Not implying guilt or innocence of anyone here but how will the party of women (and all other oppressed) be able to pull that off?
Why not? Expecting sainthood from our elected reps is delusional. I am very concerned that they do their jobs well, but I don't care much about their personal lives.
I would not fund payouts for their sexual misdeeds from taxpayers' money. I would not pay their legal bills,, if sued for sexual harassment of assault. Let them fair for themselves.
Not all districts expect a puritan. Let them elect who they want.

Not if the accused pleads guilty as this POS did!
Actually, Franken did not plead guilty. (Not saying he's not, just saying this wasn't his plea)
@Bigun

Oh but he did! As recently as today in fact! "Not all of the allegations against me are true" meaning some of them are and I admit it!

A much, much, more thorough examination of the evidence.
And no, you pervs/goofs out there, I don't mean Gropy's hands. Hot chick. Boobies.

Not all districts expect a puritan.
Interestingly enough, some of the most anti-puritans now reside in the areas in which they had originally settled.
-

Well they might have landed in the Mass Bay Colony, but their actual destination was supposed to be the Virginia Colony. But due to storms, they drifted to the north of present day Cape Cod were they sought shelter. James Clark, the masters mate, was hires by the Mayflower company because of his knowledge of the Cheasepeak Bay Area.

My point is the left's brand is based upon accusing their opponents of being misogynists, racists, homophobes, etc.
How will that sound to the great masses when they openly tolerate an obvious one (and more) within their own ranks?
-
Thanks @LMAO ...

I'm sure that's part of it. It also seems clear that the rats intend to Continue using Moore As a fund raising tool as well as an anchor around the neck of the GOP. Brand.
It will be interesting to see if the rats in the Senate go after Moore Aggressively or if they let the GOP establishment do the deed.

I can no longer function in the Senate and therefore I have decided that maybe I might resign sometime in the future if I decide to at that time.

If that is an answer, then he/she/it is incorrect on it being a precedent. Franken never resigned so how is this a precedent for something?
Even if he did, this is not a singular case, and he/she/it knows it. Others have gone through unsubstantiated allegations and had to bite the turf.

Quite a dangerous precedent is being set here.
If mere allegation is enough to call for resignation, yes, and you can bet your bottom dollar that that axe will be used against the GOP at every opportunity, but even more to trim the Congressional Ranks of anyone who won't play nice with the Uniparty.
This will permit the consolidation of power into the hands of the Capitol Hill Mob, and the people will lose any say in what happens up there. This is the reason for the attacks on Moore, who would be the worst nightmare for McConnell and Co. on the Hill.
-
If Franken fails to resign, the Dems can’t clamor for Moore’s head. Now that the only accuser who level criminal accusations has recanted her story, any more clamoring is just that, more partisan BS.
-

Two points: 1) it wasn't allegations with Franken; there were photographs, and 2) he hasn't actually resigned. Therefore back to whomever was asking about the presumption of a precedent - there isn't one.
-

Unsure of what you mean as a 'precedent'.
See attached Congressional Research Service Report.
It reports that between 1977 to when this report was dated in 2008, 38 Senators have had allegations against them the Senate Ethics Committee has considered. At least one resigned due to sexual misconduct.
https://books.google.com/books?id=2ffxkryEOd4C&pg=PT1&lpg=PT1&dq=history+of+senators+resigning+for+sexual+conduct+allegations&source=bl&ots=iwlqI8hAem&sig=uNW0BGNJTF5pQjz_OOJmkPVO3KA&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjh-YzWu_vXAhWo4IMKHYycBMg4ZBDoAQgzMAI#v=onepage&q=history%20of%20senators%20resigning%20for%20sexual%20conduct%20allegations&f=false
And, BTW, Franken has NOT resigned. No date has been set, he is just bloviating to appease.
-
And why would a Giant of the Senate resign anyway?

McConnell has all but promised an ethics investigation. It's guaranteed to get national coverage if they do it. Losing Franken in MN is no big deal to them with a Dem governor. They'd be willing to live with the short term accusations of hypocrisy, if they get a shot at expelling Moore.
The tricky part is what would come after. The voters of Alabama would have already decided he was fit to serve, after hearing the same accusations the Senate did. Throwing out a duly elected senator against the wishes of his constituents could have far-reaching effects down the road for Democrats in vulnerable seats and Republicans who cooperated.
-
And why would a Giant of the Senate resign anyway?
The content of the book is even better. It's basically a confession about how he is a phony. He talks about how he is not a serious legislator and is not sorry for any of the things he's said or done in the past.
-

If you read my earlier post on the history of Senate Ethics investigations, there were 38 Senators that had ethics allegations that were investigated from 1977 to 2008 or over one per year.
Most are theatrics so I would not expect Mitch to use this as anything but a bury.

Maybe, but according to Roy, good ol' Mitch really has it out for him. So, one of those things has to be incorrect.

A question for anyone still reading this thread, and I DARE YOU to answer:
Who would you rather have in that Minnesota Senate seat:
- Al Franken the groper
or
- Keith Ellison, the muslim... ??

You're assuming that's the only choice. There's a difference between carrying a district and a statewide race. He's not the one the governor would appoint anyway.

@IsailedawayfromFR No, but it's not really something I'm interested in pursuing. Whether it's a precedent or not doesn't matter much to me. But, I actually agree with @Right_in_Virginia and many others here that think that destroying a man's career and reputation based on a he said/she said is dangerous.

A question for anyone still reading this thread, and I DARE YOU to answer:

Listen, I've been as cordial as I can be with you. I don't know what your problem is, but I am not the person you want to hash your issues out with. If you have questions about a precedent, bring it up with the person that initiated the idea; hint, it wasn't me.

Has Al Frankin actually resigned yet? I think he said he was gong to resign one of these days, correct?

I use him or her in conversation, because he/she/it is misinterpreted by people with certain accents.
I read a sci fi book a while back in which everyone was referred to as 'it.'
We may have to come to that.
