The real crisis is hospital closures, inavailability of doctors / hospital beds / medical appointments, and doctors going into private practice and no longer accpeting insurance of any kind.
Obamacare was a ponzi-scheme to slow the pace of hospitals financially collapsing under the weight of treating uninsured patients. It bought the hospital systems some time.
Now hospitals are faced with closures by a variety of factors, one of which is low re-imbursement rates from insurers and delayed payments from insurers.
In Mass, the situation was made worse by Stewart Healthcare creating profitable Real Estate Investment Trusts for the land/buildings while hospital operations lost money. They used financial engineering to divide each hospital into two business entities, landlord and hospital operations. The landlord made profits via rent payments from insolvent hospital operations.
There are only two ways for hospitals to be "profitable":
1.) fraud
2.) deny healthcare to those who can't afford to pay
The healthcare system is experiencing a slow motion collapse, and politicians are oblivious ... until their loved one has to wait 24 hours in an Emergency Room, in a room or in the hallway, until a bed becomes available to admit them.
