A Balanced Budget Amendment is pointless because those ambulance chasers in DC will change the interpretted legal meaning of the words 'balanced' and 'budget'.  Plus, they'll use Enron-style accounting to keep things off the main ledger.

It's more effective to vote them out of office or primary them.

Why didn't officials apply lessons learned from previous generations' floods?

The real crisis is hospital closures, inavailability of doctors / hospital beds / medical appointments, and doctors going into private practice and no longer accpeting insurance of any kind.

Obamacare was a ponzi-scheme to slow the pace of hospitals financially collapsing under the weight of treating uninsured patients.  It bought the hospital systems some time.

Now hospitals are faced with closures by a variety of factors, one of which is low re-imbursement rates from insurers and delayed payments from insurers.

In Mass, the situation was made worse by Stewart Healthcare creating profitable Real Estate Investment Trusts for the land/buildings while hospital operations lost money.  They used financial engineering to divide each hospital into two business entities, landlord and hospital operations.  The landlord made profits via rent payments from insolvent hospital operations.

There are only two ways for hospitals to be "profitable":

1.) fraud
2.) deny healthcare to those who can't afford to pay

The healthcare system is experiencing a slow motion collapse, and politicians are oblivious ... until their loved one has to wait 24 hours in an Emergency Room, in a room or in the hallway, until a bed becomes available to admit them.

Very naive of Musk.  He really does not understand our political process, or he would not waste his time.  All his money will not make a 3rd viable political party.  Who is he going after?  What does he hope to accomplish when the two primary political parties are in cahoots with each other.
So you’re saying that Musk is just like Trump in his first term?

I hope Grenell keeps it up. Glad to see someone get under Gov. Greaseball's skin.

Elon Musk is a man blinded by his own brilliance and past success.  He is a man of technology and science - things that are logical, organized, and quantifiable.

Politics is improvisational performance art and theater.  The performer must adapt to audience's fickle whims.  This is what Trump excels at - the showmanship of political theater.

Elon Musk lacks the instinct and the talent to perform well in the political arena.  In typical uncharismatic billionaire fashion, he will attempt to purchase, manufacture, and impose his brilliant vision upon the lowly unwashed masses.  His success will be as variable and unpredictable as his audience's fickle whims.

Makes you wonder how many ostensibly Christian churches will be endorsing candidates who support abortion or the GLBTQetc. mess...
I can guess which denominations will jump all over it.
